Hello, thought I would join you all, has taken me days to read through up to now, but thanks for all the fantastic ideas, and all of you who have posted pictures all your stuff is lovely!
I'm feeling really inspired now, hoping to make hampers for pretty much everyone this year, love the idea of being able to tailor it to their personal likes.
So far I have.....
My grandparents, gardening hamper (so far got a kneeling pad from Tesco 37p, gardening gloves, Tesco 37p and a bright watering can, Tesco 50p) will add some other bits as and when I come across them.
My mum, not sure what to do her's on, probably lots of bath smellies and nice candles.
Step-dad, retro sweets one and a selection of ale's one.
Sister, she is 16 again not to sure, possibily a make up/hair one, she spends a LOT of time looking in the mirror so sure she will appreciate anything to make herself look beautiful.
For other family members thought about doing an organic food one but thought this might work out expensive, only really got a budget for about £10 for not immediate family members....any ideas?
Oh and doing a movie one for my cousin, her husband and their children.
Those who do hampers do you wrap them in cellophane and then wrap them in paper? Don't really like the idea that they are see through and would like people to have something to unwrap, maybe I could use boxes?0 -
Remember folks you can get edible glitter! Can be bought in cake decorating shops. An example here: http://www.cakescookiesandcraftsshop.co.uk/acatalog/Red-Edible-Glitter.htmlCos I don't shine if you don't shine.0

hello, i think using boxes would be ok i know what you mean about having something for them to un-wrap its my favourite part of x-mas too, but the ones with cellophane do look really good and im not very artistic either so the boxes for me would be best,0

Yes I agree the cellophane makes them look lovely but just don't like the idea of not having anything to unwrap as you can see it all, I work in a supermarket so shouldn't be too hard to get hold of some big boxes!0 -

I know what you mean about having something to unwrap, but I really like how the hampers look in the cellophane too. I think what I'm going to do is try to wrap the hamper in tissue paper, maybe just over the gifts and tucking it inside the basket, so the basket is visible, and then using the cellophane. That way I get to keep the nice appearance of the hamper done up in cellophane and ribbons, but the recipient gets a surprise to open tooMaking money for Christmas 2012!0 -

How about a little manicure set - they can be picked up in most pound shops. Then to go with that, some hand and nail cream and some pretty nail varnish. You could also include some face masks, I love those for a nice pampering sessionMaking money for Christmas 2012!0 -

last year i did my mum a hamper and didnt want her to see.
the hamper was a wicker basket with hinged lid which was stuck up due to the presents inside. i wrapped red crepe/tissue paper (took 1 sheet folded a couple of times) over the presents you could see so the basket was stil on show and wrapped the lot in cellophane. it looked really nice.0 -

Thats a great idea, will hopefully try that. My hampers are still in the planning stages really but so excited to get started on them.0
