Hi all! You're all far more organised than me, but I've finally bought my first christmas present! Problem is, I'm a 15 year old girl so obviously don't have enough money to go and buy lots of things in one day!

Have decided what I'm getting everyone though and I'm rather excited. My parents never really tell me what they want ('nothing'), so I'm going to buy small presents and give them to them for the 12 days before Christmas - four for mum, four for dad and four to share.. then again one each for Christmas day. It's going to be pretty much a lucky dip type thing, rather than my deciding what comes each day... the 'share' gifts are quite jokey and cheap :) Do you think it's a good idea? It wont cost me too much this way and I think they'll like it because it's quite unusual and different. I'm going to wrap in three different papers - one for mum, one for dad and one for the shares.

Doing my brother a retro sweet 'thing' - not entirely sure what these are going to go in yet. My sister and brother in law are sorted too... last person is my nephew - it's his first Christmas - not 100% sure what I'm getting him yet but have ideas... any more are appreciated though!! :D

(and no, none of these people will ask for presents or expect them, but I WANT to give them)

What a lovely idea. For your nephew how about starting a collection of books eg thomas tank engine or mr men and little mrs, there are lots to collect so birthdays and xmas' would be taken care of and theyre not expensive.

There's a couple of things which you may be able to help with! I'm thinking of doing a Top Gear 'hamper' for my DH. Ideas I've thought of so far are the new books from Clarkson & Hammond, TG mug, TG racing car chocolates, Where's the stig? book, TG magazine (maybe a subscription if I can sneakily take the Tesco CC vouchers without him noticing!). He has to have particular toiletries because of his skin, so can't usually buy novelty ones and am loathes to pay a premium for something he'll not actually use or that is really gimicky. If anyone sees anything else I'd really appreciate a heads up. I'm also not sure how to go about wrapping/presenting it? I saw a hold all in Debenhams which I think he'd use for holidays which I could put it all in, but don't want it to just be a load of random TG stuff in a bag!

There are some "Stig" bits in the Studio catalogue, some bits you already have but lots of other things too!

  • Help!?!? U-turn on Movie night in basket!!!

Was making a movie hamper for my bro's fiance, but asked him on the sly today what dvd if any she would like, and he says they've seen most films, and already have the majority on dvd... so he thinks a dvd is daft idea.

What can I do to turn the hamper into a movie one without the movie???

Could you buy a Blockbuster voucher or a Love Film voucher perhaps? I'm sure they haven't seen absolutely everything and there are new films being made all the time so there's bound to be something in the future...!
There is no such thing as a free lunch. Its only free because you've paid for it.

Noone can have everything they want and the sooner you learn that the better.

MSE Aim: To have more "thanks" than "posts"! :T

Just ordered two free Becks pint glasses (from the freebie board, 100,000 available) so will make them into sock pints for my dad and brother's Christmas box, and will include a bottle of Becks probably too, and maybe a bottle opener or something? Make a nice little stocking filler :)

  • Hello Everyone

I'm new to this thread and just looking at how organised you all are is bringing me out in a cold sweat!:rotfl:

We have been saving a certain amount of money each week all year in a family savings club so the money will be paid out from this on November 1st, then I can start buying. This was all very well and good BUT we've had some unexpected things pop up and we are now going to have to use 1/2 of the the money we have saved for Christmas to help us out of a tricky finacial situation. So I now need to totally revise my plan of what presents to get people and maybe get creative.

I would like to make my DP a 365 facts Jar, does anybody know where I can find these facts easily? (I don't want to be trawling the net and encylclopedia's if I can help it)

We have a total of 14 adults to buy for, 2 children and 4 animals:o (which will probably now go by the wayside but we love our animals lots and they're our babies, we have no children so if there is money left over, they might get a gift)

Hopefully getting involved with this thread will give me lots of ideas and keep me motivated in getting organised!

How about getting them theatre tickets? Then they could take their nibbles with them.
