Hi all - I'm at home today as DS is poorly. I spent most of yesterday wrapping presents and I don't think I've got much left to get now. Now I'm all organised though I want it to come sooner than it is - I know I'll end up buying more stuff for the kids even though they don't need anything else!

sweet-exception - how about a talking book? £land had some in so that would keep the cost down

jetcat - of course you can ask for advice, were all very helpfull as you will see from the thread. the personalized books maybe try egmont they do character ones or there are some other that do christmas ones. for your friend/carer how about a joint hamper for them, there are a list of hampers on a thread somewhere, but some of the people on here have some good ideas too. not sure about grandparents with it having to be posted but im sure some of the MSE's will have some ideas for you.

thanks for making me feel welcome:beer:

I will have a look through the hamper thread, i am defo going to try at least a Christmas Eve one.

Will try and figure out a joint one, all i got so far is a bottle of Asti - i know they both like that.

Oh, and i got a Thomas the Tank lunch box (that looks like a carry box not a standard lunch one IYSWIM) today in Tesco half price - £3.75, so will pack that with little bits and bobs for her eldest.:T

Will have a look at the book link as well, many thanks

that sounds good - her hubbie works away, and is only home 3 weeks out of 3 months, so maybe they will appreciate a nice night in. WOuld that be wine, a dvd (or a voucher - they like horrors, i have no idea what is good in that field lol) and popcorn?

I love horror films and the Japanese/Chinese/Korean ones are the best(the american remakes are pretty good too). Try The Grudge, The Eye or The Ring for starters!
  • Hi everyone

For anyone whose ever made 'Gift in a Jar' cookies, can i ask what size jars did you use?? And if i'm using a smaller jar than stated how do i scale everything down???:D:D

Hi all! You're all far more organised than me, but I've finally bought my first christmas present! Problem is, I'm a 15 year old girl so obviously don't have enough money to go and buy lots of things in one day!

Have decided what I'm getting everyone though and I'm rather excited. My parents never really tell me what they want ('nothing'), so I'm going to buy small presents and give them to them for the 12 days before Christmas - four for mum, four for dad and four to share.. then again one each for Christmas day. It's going to be pretty much a lucky dip type thing, rather than my deciding what comes each day... the 'share' gifts are quite jokey and cheap :) Do you think it's a good idea? It wont cost me too much this way and I think they'll like it because it's quite unusual and different. I'm going to wrap in three different papers - one for mum, one for dad and one for the shares.

Doing my brother a retro sweet 'thing' - not entirely sure what these are going to go in yet. My sister and brother in law are sorted too... last person is my nephew - it's his first Christmas - not 100% sure what I'm getting him yet but have ideas... any more are appreciated though!! :D

(and no, none of these people will ask for presents or expect them, but I WANT to give them)
