I love this thread! Every lunchtime (and, I will admit, other times when I should be working!) I log on to see what you've all been up to!
There's a couple of things which you may be able to help with! I'm thinking of doing a Top Gear 'hamper' for my DH. Ideas I've thought of so far are the new books from Clarkson & Hammond, TG mug, TG racing car chocolates, Where's the stig? book, TG magazine (maybe a subscription if I can sneakily take the Tesco CC vouchers without him noticing!). He has to have particular toiletries because of his skin, so can't usually buy novelty ones and am loathes to pay a premium for something he'll not actually use or that is really gimicky. If anyone sees anything else I'd really appreciate a heads up. I'm also not sure how to go about wrapping/presenting it? I saw a hold all in Debenhams which I think he'd use for holidays which I could put it all in, but don't want it to just be a load of random TG stuff in a bag!
Secondly, I am getting my grandparents a night in an night hotel and my brother some money towards a holiday for him and his gf. Wondering how I could present each of these? The hotel I'm booking myself, its not a gift experience you buy from Boots, Debenhams etc (I find them a rip off) so have nothing to give them as such unless I make a voucher of some sort. For my brother I wondered about a card with a globe on or pic of a beach or something and then a cheque inside.
Thanks in advance for any ideas!
Rachel85There is no such thing as a free lunch. Its only free because you've paid for it.
Noone can have everything they want and the sooner you learn that the better.
MSE Aim: To have more "thanks" than "posts"! :T0 -

Thanks
My daughter bought a small pink xmas tree from WHSmith a year or two ago and it had white fairy lights on it too for £10. She loves it because she puts it up in her bedroom, its about 2/3 ft tall. maybe they still sell them.***Dont save what is left after spending, spend what is left after saving***0 -
have you been online on studio cards they have a online only clearance section, maybe worth a look, although the delivery is about £5 so depends on how much you wanted to spend,0

last year PoundStretcher had them pre lit for £4 (3ft). I think I saw some 2ft ones in POundland last week- combine that with some Pound shop lights too. My kids have them in thier rooms too- even though they are more "designer|" now to fit in with thier decors! My 19 year old son chose his own last year- black and bronze, daughters was -yup-PINK!:rotfl:lovin' this site!

Rachel85- Our local Store 21 (old Bewise shop) had a "StiggyBank" - I think its is £3. Might be handy for your hamperlovin' this site!

mrs ryan ive noticed that the boots xmas book doesnt have all the toys in there whats in the shop, so anyone whos writing lists from the book its probaly worth looking instore aswell save you getting all in a muddle when you go to get the toys and see things better.
i dont know if this is the same with giftsets etc tho?
rachel you could wrap all the presents individually then put them in the bag it would make it a bit more exciting and a bit less 'thrown in'
or how about covering a tray in wrapping paper, standing the bag at the bag and then placing all the stigstuff in front the bag and wrapping in cellophane?
curlylou thanks for the head up on the usborne books hopefully they will have some left next time i manage to get up there0 -

hi all
have just spent the past half an hour reading all your posts - wow you are all so organised lol!!
i would love it if you could share some inspiration my way...... for the first time in ages i have a little money this xmas, and would love to get some special pressies for family and friends.
The main ones are
DD1 - 12. She says she has no idea!! I was thinking of a dvd recorder, as
we have sky plus downstairs, but not in her room (she has sky)
and she always misses her programmes while helping with DD2.
SHe keeps mentioning fruit factory as well??
DD2 - 2 (3 just before xmas) She is easy - she is desparate for a bike,
and anything peppa pig related
then it gets tricky....
Grandparents -(my ex foster parents) no idea. i usually get a bottle of
whiskey for him and some toiletries for her, but would
love to get something more adventourous than that. They
are mid forties.
Got to be postable
brother (20) usually just give him cash, but am thinking of making a pot
of gold to wrap it in or something?
Got to be postable
Sister (36) usually smellies, again, got to be postable
nephew (12) - lego i think, or dr who
nephew (11) he is into hannah montanna, HSM etc.
Friend (who is actually my carer/support worker) - i would really appreciate some help with this one. SHe has become a really good friend, and i would love to get her and her husband something as a couple, as he has done jobs for me around the house. They are early 20s.
^^ their sons - 2 and 1 - was thinking personalised books?
I hope it is ok to ask for advice, as i am feeling a little overwhelmed, and friend is taking me shopping in 4 weeks:eek: Need to be a little organised before then lol!0 -
