haha Mrsow glad you got a giggle out of that, OH thinks I'm proper daft now but at least I'm not the only one! I was shocked to find that my mam starts Christmas shopping in January, picking little bits and bobs up in the sales, and continuing through the year whenever she sees something she thinks one of us will like, now I see the sense in doing this. Then she just has to buy our big presents nearer the time and she already has all the little gifts sorted. It works well with presents but not so well with cards, she'll always pick up cheap cards and gift wrap, pack them away with the Christmas stuff in January, and then when it comes to November time thinks 'ooh, better get some cards in' and buys some more. It's good for me as I get to raid the wrapping box when I'm home though :D

Ive been trawling the threads in here all night - my eyes ran off to bed a while ago,

I am feeling so insprred and quite cheesed of that the shops ares shut. i have a sudden urge to go and buy things to make flannel & sock cupcakes. And towels to make a towel cake.

Tomorrow i will be trawling the net for ideas on How to make most bits myself instead of paying out money for it. It will give me and the kids something to do over the next few months. It's not the money that bothers me it's that feeling of satisfaction knowing you made it yourself.

I have also had to hide my overnight xmas addiction from DF - although it didnt work - especially as the first thing i said to him this morning was - you know tools - where will i get compartment boxes from to make retro sweet boxes for the kids for xmas. He was like it's July - dont you even dare mention xmas yet.

i now feel an urge to go and make a flannel cupcake - just so i can say i made one - then i might be able to get to sleep without constantly thinking about it.
:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T

I am enjoying these threads so much! With DD1's birthday in October and DD2's in December I really should be more organised.

    Well this year I am!

I have just about finished my mum, sis etc and already have loads put aside for the DD's. Nothing for DS yet....but I do have some ideas!

I have thought for years that our decorations were looking a bit jaded....so last week I headed into a lovely shop called Christmas Angels and bought 3 new tree decorations! And I will pop in once a month or so and add to my collection......:D

God i feel like im slacking now reading how getting ready everyone else is and i've done nothing yet.

I always get really wound up as in our family everyone goes mad and gets each other a stack and i do mean a BIG stack of presents.

And just to add on top of that everyone's birthday is later in the year, 3 in september, 2 in november, 1 in december.

I like the make a basket idea though for friends and people only getting a small gift set.

I better buck my ideas up hey! haha.

mrsow - I'm having a go this year at making some felt decorations -christmas trees, snowmen, gingerbread men, that sort of thing. Never done it before but we bought a pine dresser that I think they'll look nice draped across if you know what I mean
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

I really want to get my DD a wooden dolls house from ELC this year so i am keeping my eyes peeled for a good deal.

I read yesterday on the grabbit while you can thread that ELC shops are closing down and being taken over by Mothercare. Check your local store, you might be able to catch a bargain

Boyes do felt squares for something like 25p for a small one, or 40-ish pence for a bigger one, loads of colours. Can you upload a pic of your mini stocking, want some inspiration for my advent calendar :)
