I will always defend people who are being bullied, goes with the territory when you have as many close relatives on the spectrum as I have, no one here will stop me doing it. Bullying is such a horrible, nasty unbecoming trait, don't you think?

Nobody is bullying anyone they are just making the point that racist talk with not be tolerated on here, whether it be from someone with an ASD or not.

Didn't she just make a point about immigration, must have missed her racist comment.

Oh I'm not high and mighty at all, infact I prefer not to judge other people I don't even know, still maybe you have a different understanding of high and mighty.

Pot, Kettle, Black springs to mind!

You dont think racisim and your defending of it is bullying? I do

My father was an immigrant, invited here from Jamaica by the government. He, my mother and siblings and I have spent years of being judged, spat at in the street for being black & mixed race, threatened by the bnp types (you included in that group now)

By defending such actions you are judging, you have judged me and assumed everyone is 'picking' on BCS because she has AS when in fact people are angry at her because she is biggioted racisit with no manners and is hiding behind disability. As you are now too.

And yes being a social worker has plenty of relevance. I work with families on a dialy basis providing support, guidance and advice to parents and their kids. To prevent kids with ASD ending up in care or part of the criminal justive system because their parents are about to give up on them.

Her post has been deleted, quite rightly so, however I have quoted it in post #96.

That's taking this too far and it is becoming personal rather than a discussion.

The poster did make unnecessary remarks and was pulled up on it. Someone defending a person who she felt was being bullied does not mean she must then be a BNP type

My father was an immigrant too Shel, so bit surprised to find myself on your list, but obviously you didn't think to ask, just shot from the lip with assumptions again, yawn.
You can sleep easy knowing I wont be giving up on my kids or using social services, better services as of right is part of what I advocate for, meaning early intervention, education and health.
Hopefully one day society wont need social workers or at least a lot less.

Vicky, i find your last post some what derogatory (sp?!)
Why wont you be using social services etc?
So with all the intervention and good will in the world, there are times of crisis that cant be avoided!
I use early intervention etc, but what if my sons immeadiate family is wiped out in a car crash (might be a small family, may not), who is going to step up and help him? Your house burns down because your autistic son has chewed through another electric cable? Are your family going to be in a posistion to provide all you need? etc etc etc

The OP asked a Q, which has been answered numerous times, and TBH upon reading all would seem like the main q is how can i optimise my income, etc without getting off my !!!! - JMO

But my mind wanders............ This country is in a mess and yes at the moment my family is on benefits - because my husbands company went into liquidation after being owed a large amount of money...we had invested heavily ( own money) and lost everything. I still hold my head high, we will be working soon and off the benefits. Why because we have pride, ambition and the desire to provide our children with the best we can. We wont use our sons disability for an easy ride. The people that do this are the scum of this society, I have seen so much in the job centre, those who think they deserve what they get, its their right etc. <slams the door one way out>

It's not intended to be derogatory toward service users, as you can imagine practically everyone I know uses SS mostly for direct payments.
We choose not to take respite in any form.
As for the worst happening then I can see your point but we have made arrangements.
I also live in hope that our situation is going to be temporary. I am very much in favour of everyone doing their level best to help themselves, but having both my children on the autistic spectrum came as one heck of a wake up call in that sometimes the unexpected just happens, it hasn't been planned for and life is never the same again.
I just prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt, it isn't how I used to think and ofcourse there will be people who are just sponging but I would rather err in someones favour than have them go away feeling worse than ever.
My thoughts were actually quite different about the original post, there didn't seem to be enough reason to suspect autism and personally I wouldn't want something on my childs medical records that could count against him when he is older and looking to hopefully enter the world of work. Although on the other hand early diagnosis is important.
My oldest has had many co-morbids along the way and I waited till the last minute to have him assessed incase he is going to have all this stuff recorded, which of course it is.
My youngest will need a miracle to even live a properly independent life as he is very disabled, but my belief rightly or wrongly is that we must do everything to maximise our childrens chances.
Wandered off the point there, but no I am not being derogatory towards service users, my passion is for early intervention and a relevent education which my youngest most certainly does not get.
I could be bitter and rail against all those whose children get a decent education that my taxes and husbands has paid for all our lifes, many of them dont even seem to care about their childrens education or the amount of times my youngest has been in front of a doctor clearly in pain and we are sent away because that is just autism:mad:
Just to add, my husband asked sons school teacher recently that he was concerned about his progress and what would happen when he left school, the answer was straight in the eye, cool as you like "Social Services".

I just came back in and checked on this post to see if the OP had got any more advice.

Once again I am disgusted to see what this has degenerated into, WHY OH WHY can't these threads stay on track with the original issue, I am TOTALLY sick of all these rows about benefits.

Oh and btw, this is for social worker: WELL SAID.
