those prices appear to be paying full amount up front :(

only on the special prices that say full payment required underneath, the other prices you can pay £99 deposit and the balance 4 weeks before you go.

personally I wouldnt go for New Year, done it before, expensive, too crowded, too cold

Also, it can be really cold! ;)
Ah yes the cold, how could we ever forget the cold!! I know it ain't Minnesota but it does seem to catch you unawares the first time.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

I remember when pebbles, funkyfin, luci and TangoBunny were struggling to find an easy way to try to schedule a meet between them (without Facebook and with this site only allowing you to send a PM to one person at a time)...read about this in a magazine today and thought of that.

    http://www.doodle.com/

Allows you to send out a sort of invitation and everyone can confirm the times/places that work for them.

Thought it might be helpful at some point. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

any other good places to look?

If you are really set on being there for NYE, it's probably too early for the (relative) deals to be released through the hotels direct where you pay the first night deposit and the rest at check-out...cityandshow.com do seem to have some really good deals especially for the higher-end hotels so if that's what you're looking for, there's a chance that they will be the best option in terms of price. If they allow you to pay £99 up front and the balance closer to the date as penny says, and if they allow you to cancel (should you find a better deal) then that might be a win-win situation for you...I don't know what their cancellation policy is though.

Bearing in mind that any deals that come out for NYE aren't going to be anything like the deals that come out during the other times of the year, of course.

The link below has decent rates for the MGM on your dates. I saved into my Internet Explorer so I can't remember exactly where I got it from - possibly posted here previously or fatwallet.

At present cost is $1286 (approx. £814) & only requires $162 (approx. £101) deposit.

    https://reservations.mgmmirage.com/bookingengine.aspx?pid=001&host=promo&code=MKT284

    Exclusive Offer
    * 2 for 1 daily buffet
    * Nightly access for 2 to Studio 54 and Tab!
    * Daily access for 2 to Wet Republic
    * Daily gym access for 2

    Hope I'm ok posting this.

Try https://www.booking.com They have the Wynn for $1566 and only require one night's deposit which is refundable up to 48 hours before arrival. It's actual only $30 more than the PH. The Venetian was coming in at $2500.
