I've said it before , but here it goes again . Trip Advisor can lead you up the garden path as regards to Vegas .

after that it is only degrees of comfort IMO . yes the Luxor will get some negative reviews , but i bet a lot of people enjoy their stay there and never write a review .

Good point about Tripadvisor, I mean a much higher percentage of people will write up to have a good whinge, compared to those writing up to say what a great time they had.

Also, according to Tripadvisor, Desert Rose is more popular than Bellagio, Wynn, Palazzo, Venetian, even the ENCORE - now where would you rather stay ?

It's all relative, based on what you pay and what you expect - I doubt any first time visitor would be dissapointed at any of the big, 4* strip hotels, especially if they are used to European (like Spanish) hotels - it's a totally different league IMO.

    having a knightmare dilema...
to cancel my bargain 2 nights at mgm grand 60$ all in with ulimmited buffet and rebook with palazzo (129$ with 2 free phantom tickets)
or to keep as it is,
phantom offer runs out toinght so need to decide!! argg stress!!!
is the palazzo worth double the mgm grand?

The thing to bear in mind is you are unlikely to want to eat in the same buffet (or any restaurant) 3 times a day so although the MGM deal is great value, you may not make full use of it. Whereas, if you are getting your Phantom tickets for free, you will get full value out of them (assuming you want to go anyway).

For us, part of the Vegas experience is eating in different places - there's an amazing choice, for all budgets.

As long as you want to see Phantam it's a great deal. For $138 extra you're getting the 2 tickets & the rooms will be amazing.

I have stayed in MGM & Venetian - the Palazzo is newer but rooms are the same, and enjoyed them both. However, the Venetian/Palazzo rooms are only a few years old & in mint condition & the MGM rooms are a bit tired looking - sorry the 1 I stayed in was.

BTW I'd stay in the MGM again no problem if the deal suited.

The TA rankings are even worse than taking any review at face value - I have no idea what sort of algorithm they use to come up with those but it's bizarre.

I love TA so much - it's so helpful to research places before you book, but only with careful reading of many reviews for any given property...just looking at the rankings or ratings is largely useless for anything other than the best or the worst hotels...everything else I agree you have to sift through the info provided and make a call out of more than the snapshot on the first page.

Anyone stayed at the Excalibur recently? Booked a good deal in Sept for 5 nights the covers the weekend. Tripadvisors reviews are mixed. Booked a 'widescreen room'

I can always cancel if a better option comes my way, was just looking for some feedback. Thanks

Excaibur is most certainly my budget hotel of choice I like the location, the rooms are fine (have not been in a wide scren) good staff lowe table limist only downers poor restuarnt selection, though I like the coffee shop and poor cocktail service at the tables but this is normal in the cheaper hotels. You will have a great time at Excalibur and of course the resturants dont matter as you have all the ones at MGM, NYNY and Luxor really close

completly agree I always read TA but much of what is written is tosh particaully on the forum I would never base a choice on what people write on there. part of it is people who have a gripe and then there is much other where people have different standards and expections to what I have.

September too - even the weekend of the Mayweather fight / Killers gig - so book it quick if you want it!!

I think you need to book in blocks of 2 to get the $79.

Pity I never received this 2 days ago as I think I would booked a couple of nights there - never been but read good things on here & the location is excellent!
