So you're saying it would be acceptable for me to turn up to a job interview on an emtpy stomach, wearing a creased shirt...?

Yes I am! If it came to it you could always borrow one off a neighbour or family - even if you just borrowed it to iron the shirt! There are such things as laundrettes too!

A creased shirt can be sorted in other ways - put it between the mattress and bed! Or just hang it up straight before you want to use it. It would be quite easy to get by or improvise for a week or so while the item was being repaired!

We were without a kettle for a couple of days - we got by boiling the water in a pan or in the microwave - you arent going to be without all the electrical appliances at the same time!

If Comet are not prepared to replace the item or repair in a realistic time frame then yes. (28 days is not realistic)

You my good man are on a different planet, why is 28 days so long to wait, I was without my car for 2 WEEKS, my only mode of transport, you know what I did? I got the bus, im sure you can live without your dvd player for a few weeks, if you cant then oh dear....

Yes, it would cause me significant disruption.

DVD Player - I have just rented several DVDs and would like to be able to watch them

VCR - See above, replacing "DVDs" with "Videos"

Fan - It's exceptionally hot and I need to keep cool

    TV - See DVD Player/VCR

Microwave - I need to be able to cook

Kettle - I need hot water

Iron - I need uncreased clothes.

I kind of agree with this,

I say kind of because although it wouldn't cause me "significant disruption", I don't see why I should have to wait weeks for repairs...I want to be able to use the Items that I have purchased.. It doesn't matter if it's a Kettle or a Washing Machine...I have paid good money for it, So i expect to be able to use it.

As for the car - If there is a fault then I expect it to be rectified without me being put out in any way - this they do by supplying a car whilst mine has been in for repair, if it continued to have faults then I would be entitiled to a replacement or refund - as I would with any goods. .

Yes but have you found any one who has succeeded, Pobably not as all they do is fix it and then fix it again. Yes they may supply a replacement car but as my local garage said they are all taken for the next 2 weeks so non avaliable unless you wait!!!
As one engineer once told me every thing is repairable (electrical) if you have enough time

Tell me, how many days/weeks after purchase is a repair the chosen method?

Depends on the price but generally 28 days. If its worked for nearly a month the general notion is that it wasnt faulty when purchased.

I take it it was not a new car then? If it was then you should have had a replacement car - I always have - and have not had to ask either, it was offered. We are talking about buying new items from a store, the Razor was £85 and failed after 2 months - I was not offered a replacement, was just told it would need to go for repair. The DVD player went within the 28 days, yet the spotty oik tried to tell me it needed sending for repair, the replacement DVD went faulty within 2 months and again I had to fight to get a replacement. So 2 out of the 3 times there it seems like the staff were not even following Comets own guidelines let alone the Law.

Read my other post, most of these items are exchanged straight away anyway.

Then if they are all taken they need to hire one in for you. Peugeot had to for me.

And herein lies the problem. There's no "general notion" about whether or not an item was faulty when purchased - within 6 months, you need to prove that it wasn't.

Yeah it was new, but it was 4 months old, and as I had driven it an used it, they had it in for repair something I had no problem with because I undersdtand warranties etc, something some people seem to have trouble with on here.
