  • Sometimes I think I am so stupid! Have done a lot of investigation and have compiled a letter to the Financial Ombudsman detailing the errors of Halifax but that also for their info I will be pursuing the misselling of insurance on three loans. Thatg will go off on Monday and I will contact the Halifax on Monday too as per their advice on their website re PPI and get the process of reclaiming up and running. Why did I not think my mortgage and secured loans counted? Why oh why did I not think to read up on it sooner. I thought it related to credit cards and personal loans. Anyway, we will wait and see. For once Halifax have done me a favour making this mistake. I would never have thought y mortgage insurance constituted as Mortgage PPI otherwise....

  • No you're not stupid! You don't stop. You've been learning and reading so much over the last however long since you have had your lightbulb moment...don't be so hard on yourself you cannot do everything at once, look at how much you have embraced from this site already...the main thing is you've found out now and I like the idea that your DH is guiding you.

    good luck with the PPI
  • Thanks everyone. My family do is next Sun mum2one but thankyou for thinking of me. Have had a really busy weekend, doing absolutely all I need to do so I am ready for the week and can focus on my call to the Bank this am re the PPI before going out to work. Also have been getting paperwork together, researching making sure I ve got the right end of the stick. On checking my diary, it is now the case that on every weekend between now and Christmas there is something going on. I use Wednesdays to work from home as much as poss and I will be prioritising ebay on those days between now and Xmas, at least the ebay that I don't want dd to see as I am clearing her room of the things she hasn't touched or used for months with a view to selling them. Will also do other ebay at the weekend say 5 things at a time which I find doable with planning to prepare for postage etc. Have sold 3 items this weekend and that has bought a modest £10 in to mypaypal but thats £10 I wouldn't have had otherwise and I intend to have ongoingly double figures of items selling so thereis a lot of potential to be had financially.

In the end, dd and I went out yesterday with friends to a nearby Farm where they have a farm shop, cafe, and play area for the children. Dd played while my friend and I did what we do best, eat cake, drink tea and chat! It was lovely and took dd and my mind off the sombre thoughts of dh. This time 8 years ago, at this precise time another dear dear friend was sitting with me and we were waiting for the family liasson officer to turn up and any more news of where dh had been moved to etc. I had been awake since 4am when the police had first come round. Dd was probably needing feeding by now. Yes whilst the 13th is a sad day, it happened late at night about 10.30pm and so it was the 14th when it really kicked off for me. I hadn't felt any anger to the man who did it, just sadness but I do feel it increasingly as dd gets older. I want to ask him why he did it dd says to me. I want my daddy. And I don't allow dd to be videoed or photographed at school or anywhere else where they are going to be on the internet. Just in case her image is sent to him in prison. And that constraint frustrates me. He knows where we live, we don't know which prison he's in, its all in the criminals favour and we have to go along with it. Didn't mean to go off on one! But if its one thing Im feeling right now is dh telling me to stay calm and to grasp this opportunity of a pay back re the PPI. Please dont think Im mad saying that...

Will post later re PPI call!

  • Excellent news! Have called the Halifax, yes all three loan insurances constitute PPI. Required forms completed over telephone. Because Halifax got it wrong about my home insurance complaint and had refered it to the PPI department instead investigations are already underway regarding my mortgage so only min info was required regarding that account. How funny!!! Its like a football team scoring an own goal... Anyway, very nice lady dealt with it and I have just finalised my letter to the Ombudsman regarding my home insurance complaint, I'm sending a copy of the letter re PPI to them as further proof of Halifax's incompetency and so they are up to date with all correspondence. Have let the FOB know for their info that although incorrect, the letter inspired me to check my insurances and how I have now filed a complaint about PPI too!!!
