MONEY MORAL DILEMMA. Should Cheryl substitute Ashley’s mayo?

She should just tell him the truth.
My mum tried to fob me off with cheap burgers, and putting a Birds Eye packet in the bin. I could always tell though. What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -
Unless there's a special dietary reason for the higher-priced brand you're not deceiving anybody, you're just sensibly saving money from a wasteful brandsnob. Carry on and use the savings from all your downshifts to buy him something that he actually does need! Maybe then you can tell him how you did it (if he's of the general temperament that will actually appreciate it in good spirit)What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0

Oh Dear... have we not already heard enough in life about these
two overpaid and overhyped people. Lets hear about somebody else please.0 -
With some downshifts you can still tell even if they did it in secret.
But anyway, I'd say do it once or twice and come clean and ask if he noticed, and if so, suggest sticking with the cheaper brand.
Any deception further than that kinda crosses the line a bit - but that said, it's only mayo.0 -
Cheryl must have the patience of a saint already. I have people in my extended family like Ashley, and they're a total pain.
Deceive him for the time being, Cheryl - but think hard about dumping the snob altogether.0 -
The dilemma here is far more than a bottle of salad dressing .. cash strapped, afraid to discuss how to save money even on such a simple matter as what to put on the lettuce, afraid of a husband and what he might say when he can't tell the difference on such a simple purchase ..
instead of visiting the supermarket maybe a trip to a marriage guidance is on the horizon ..
I don't know about the taste test but seems like its time for them both to smell the coffee
:j totally debt free, just ordinary everyday bills,
as Mum used to say .. money in the bank for a rainy day and in case the roof needs repairing0 -
Don't put the ersatz mayo into the Hellmann's jar - that, as has been said earlier, is deceit, and could open a whole can of worms!
Do tell hubby after he's had it several times and not noticed the difference.
Of course, what he might say is "I thought there was something odd about it", but he might just say that to get back to the real stuff.
I don't like mayo so can't comment specifically about it, but I usually go for own brands until I find they're horrible and then switch back to branded.0
