MONEY MORAL DILEMMA. Should Cheryl substitute Ashley’s mayo?

Rotti, have to agree. Morrisons is great even if you do have money. I can't eat anything but Heinz for ketchup or Hellmans for mayo, but think Branston beans are nicer than Heinz. Am not a great coffee drinker. Anyone else have must buys like these?0

Divorce him, it's simpler in the long run.............0

I agree about Branston Beans, they're great (like Heinz were before they cut down on the sugar and salt).0

Although I personally think all mayo except for hellmans is vile, and I can tell the difference (My big stomach is proof I like it a lot! :-o) He has already proved he can't so I would just tell him, then they can discuss it like adults.Date I decided to clear my debt: 03/12/08
Debt started with: Loan - 2195, Credit Card - 1738, Interest free overdraft -500 = TOTAL - 4433
Current Debt: Loan - 0, Credit Card 1 - 1346, Credit Card 2 - 906 Interest free overdraft -0 = TOTAL - 22520 -
There isn't a moral answer to this question as the husband would know immediately that the substitute wasn't Hellemans. No other mayo has same taste, colour or consistency. I have been trying for years to get a cheaper substitute and always return to Hellemans.0

I say carry on buying the cheap stuff and filling up the jar.
I've done it - my 'labels snob' partner never knows - I even now some stuff that's produced in the same factory to the same recipe for 1/2 the price on the shelf, so why not?[/QUOTE
If this same recipe tastes like Hellemans - please tell us the name - I have never found one and I am 68.0 -
i wouldnt tell him for a while. i told my OH about a year later with a few products and only then did he say they were no good!Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

It's a bit sneaky to pretend no-brand is top brand. Why not decant either into an unmarked jar?0

This is a Rubbish dilemma!! You cant compare any mayo to hellmans so this would never happen! im not a brand snob quite the oppisite but 2 things i wont buy cheap is bread and mayo! any1 that likes mayo even abit could tell a massive differance!!!0

I've been doing this for a long time as my OH was a bit of snob about brands too.
I substitute for a while and then say something like did you notice that the recipe for the mayo has changed what did you think? Then I come clean.
He's got a bit wise to it now though but now he realises that own brands can be just as good, he is much more open minded about trying - especially when I tell him how much we will save over a year.
Interestingly, my family now prefer Tesco own brand to Weetabix!
We've also had to change brands on a lot of products as my DD is nut allergic. Unfortunately, it sometimes means we've had to go the other way which is really frustrating.7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0
