Do you reckon you weigh more first thing in the morning?

Ive been going down steadily this week but this morning I weighed myself first thing and according to the scales Ive put 12 oz on again?

Because others here were weighing themselves every day or 2 I thought I'd do the same last week to see what happens. Normally I weight myself just before the evening meal, about 8.30pm, on a wednesday (weight in wednesday thread going on caloriecount.about.com).
Did it first thing in the morning once and actually got one on the lowest weights of the week at 11st 1lb, but I wouldn't read anything into that.

What I found during the week is a variety of weights up and down between 11st 1lb and 11st 3lb. This makes me suspect weighing yourself so frequenlty is not really helpful, you need to a longer view such as where you were at the beginning and then the end of the month.

Tim Henman once said of Tennis, I don't think about the pressure of the tournement or even a match that much. I focus on the process - the training, the individual game, each shot, the tournement result takes care of itself.

It might help to not worry about what the weight is today or this week even, and instead concentrate on calories in vs. calories out and getting the right food in at the right time to not be feeling hungry all the time. In other words, the process, the weight loss result will take care of itself.

Well I had my first weeks weigh in and I haven’t lost anything. It has been my TOTM though and I always seem to put on a couple of lbs in water retention so am not getting too disheartened but I must admit I am a little pee’d off

I sometimes wonder about the TOTM effect. Being a man I can't go and measure that one for myself.
Half a litre of water, approximately a pint weighs 1.1lb. Water retention or even drinking a pint of something just before you weight yourself must make a difference.
One of the other problems with frequent weigh-ins. I wonder how much of a change some see is down to more or less liquid in your system at the time you do it.

Just under a pint of waters worth.
Is this weight before or after the first visit to the bathroom in the morning?:o
It's also well within the range of ups and downs I see too, I can't beleive it means 12oz of fat have suddenly appeared.

As you know I only WI once a week on a Wednesday but I do it first thing in the morning after having a wash/shower,going to the toilet and before I get dressed.
I may be wrong but as you go through the day drinking and eating I would guess that you`re "adding weight".
The other thing is, when you have lost x amount of lbs your body seems to settle at that weight and sort of "stalls" even though you`re still counting the cals.
It`s as though it`s getting used to the new weight before shedding anymore.
That`s just my feeling, probably totally wrong

I agree with all of the above. It is well known and stated on caloriecount.about.com that weight tends to come down in steps so you can sit still for a while, which can be discouraging.
June was like that for me. At the beginning of this month I started doing a 5 minute series of stretching excercices about 4 times a day which is helping my RSI problem a lot. It's also a little bit of regular excercise in the day. It could be coincidence, but it seems to have kicked off weight loss again all be it slower than before.

Its not standing still though, its actually putting on 12 oz when I am really keeping tightly to the calorie counting. I cant remember what chocolate, cake, chips or crisps taste like (all the "c's"??)

As said above, happens to me, general weight trend still down. That 12oz might be a pint of drink you had still in your system that wasn't theit last time you weighed yourself.
What is your weight now compared to 1 month ago?
How long have you been calorie counting? If less than a month, stay away from the scales until it has been at least that long.

    :T
So you've lost somewhere between 7lbs and 9lbs in a month, that's absolutely fantastic and going by what they say on that caloriecount website 2lbs a week is the fastest you want to be doing it to be healthy.
    Couldn't be a better result :j

Thats kind of you BUT I have a wedding in 2 weeks now and I was SO wanting to lose a stone by then :( I think may be I dont do enough (if any) exercise. I used to be very fit but have a prob with my back and knee now so rarely do much in the way of excercise.
