I don't usually comment on a lack of common sense shown by some, but with fruit and veg - Get Real. The stuff is grown in fields and glass houses and often picked and packed in one operation - Do you think the harvesters have a proper loo with hand washing facilities in the middle of a 10acre field ?, and even without that consideration, Fruit and Veg can naturally carry carry some quite nasty parasites, unless it comes in a sealed bag that says it's washed - WASH IT

You probably pass more germs onto a grape from your own hand than any snail or slug would, too.

Also, there is no mention here of anything distressing or anything to suggest the OP was harmed or that they missed out on something.

It implies that the OP sees this merely as an opportunity. I hate this culture of blame and entitlement and people's obsession with comp£n$ation

if a snail ever does sting you, you can put a paste of aspirin and water on it immediately and it doesnt hurt so much, also a snail dies once it has stung someone.

Do you have to suck the snail venom out before you put the paste on?

Yes. Don't forget to cut a cross in your skin with a rusty penknife first.

I expect the grapes where picked by the OP because they looked all nice and shiny. Shame the OP didn't realise it was because of dried snail snot.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.
  • the sad thing is Tescos will probably bung the OP a fresh bag of grapes and a voucher just to shut them up...
...when really, in any sane world, they should say 'wash your fruit, you filthy philistine! Don't you know it grew in !!!!!! in a field?'
Sadly it's all part of the same mentality as 'I tripped over a ladder that shouldn't have been there, so I am calling claims direct' - people need to stare behaving like sensible adults with a modicum of common sense, who can look out for ladders that shouldn't be there, and rinse their own fruit, not going down the route of american style blame and compensation culture that seems to treat adults as if we are all a bunch if imbecilic infants...

Ah, the joys of MSE consumer forum: 1 query, 1 answer towards the consumer query, 3 pages of flaming at someone who will probably never dare ask another question for fear of the ridicule.

You must be all so proud.

All capped off with one sanctimonious holier-than-thou smuggit. ;)

If that means I don't join in with the rest of the jackals, I'll take that as a compliment. ;)
