I need to phone back tonight to tell them that making me pay 3% after agreeing 2% is NOT ACCEPTABLE. I am planning on asking them to compensate me for my time as well.
  • Applied for and was accepted for NSPCC card. Closer inspection of the T&Cs on the paperwork has me wondering whether I will in fact get a fee-free BT...

    Online T&Cs:
2% or minimum £2 (on promotional rates except introductory offer)

Credit Agreement T&Cs (section 5: Charges):
We make a handling charge of 2.5% (at least £2) for cash advances and2% (at least £2, but no more than £50) for balance transfers.

No mention of any promotional stuff in the charges section at all in the written T&Cs. Note the use of the words "we make" rather than "we may make".

Can anyone confirm that they've signed a credit agreement with exactly these terms AND got their fee-free BT?

    Thanks,

  • Sorry, should have included that it was the NSPCC Platinum card

Just to confirm that I got my first statement today and my minimum payment is 2% of the balance. The card I applied for was the scouts platinum online.

Also, the statement has a nice little summary box confirming the date when the interest free period ends (9 months). No BT fee.

    Be prepared :)

    Lee,
Thanks for that. Can you confirm the BT was fee free also? And for 9 months?

Your welcome. Correct on both counts - I've edited my post to clarify.

Thinking of applying for a Harley Davidson card but was wondering whether anyone has done so recently, and can confirm whether the 0% fee on balance transfers for the full 9 months is correct?

Also, does anyone know the difference in earnings level required to apply for the chrome or platinum?

    Thanks,

I am still having problems here - Martin can you help?

I applied via the charity card site in April for a Platinum NSPCC card. 0% interest on purchases and BTs and no BT fee.

In August, I got a letter saying my T&Cs had changed. I would now be charged 3% BT fee. I called HBOS and checked and they said this was incorrect, no fee would be charged. They also confirmed that if a charge was ever leveid I would be told when I called to do a BT.

Anyone, did another BT in Sept and have been charged a 3% fee. Called HBOS and was told this would wrong and the money would be refunded. Called again to chase up the refun and was told that the matter had gone for "investigation". Then yesterday I received a letter saying that the 3% fee charged was as per my T&Cs.

So now I'm confused & frustrated - can they change the T&Cs part way through an introductory period, should I be paying this charge and why do I get different information every time I call??

    Hi minxystar

Welcome to the credit card board!

I too signed up with Bank of Scotland for the charity card in April.
A 3% balance transfer fee was introduced recently, but customer services have assured me the charge does not apply to existing customers.

Even if the bank had varied its terms & conditions, you were entitled to the right info when you requested the balance transfer.

I would phone customer services, once again, with your Ts & Cs to hand. You can avoid the 0845 number by ringing 01315 498041. Customer services staff have misled you and they should refund the fee.

    Very best

  • Hello Moggles,

Well I called Cusomer Services today and explained the story very slowly and calmly.

Apparently the 3% fee is correct, although they can't say why I was originally advised otherwise.

All they can do know is refer my case to the complaints team and see if they are willing to give me a refund on the basis of having been mis-informed.

I certainly won't be using that card for any more balance transfers after this month!
