    Hi everyone

I read this thread everyday, just have'nt got round to posting a pic of my current UFO (Samurai Warrior) coz i cant find my camera!!

I need some help though....I've got to the part where I need to use metallic thread, its two strands metallic and one ordinary thread.

Do any of you have any tips on using metallics as I'm really struggling? I find I've had to slow down a lot as the thread knots or the tension goes skew wiff  what would normally take me 10 mins to do is taking at least 30 mins and it's starting to put me off finishing the design

^^all I can advise is sticking to shorter lengths, and there is a product called 'Thread Heaven' which you can run along the thread which is supposed to make it smoother to work with.

  • "Hi Everyone :j

I have been doing cross stitching for about 6 mnths and love it even though I am a slow learner, could someone please post where I can buy the kits from? I have not been able to do any for a couple of mnths as where I live we only have 1 shop that sells them.
Any help will be gratefully recieved, I have been looking at the pictures on here and they are fab if only I could live up to these standards."

Just wanted to thank all of you who replied to my post above earlier I will now have a good browse through the sites.:T

Hiya. I've been lurking on this forum for a few weeks and its really got my enthusiasm back for cross stitching. I used to cross stitch as often as possible until i did a three year course and then started a very stressful job. I've got a few UFO's upstairs in the attic, and many finished yet unframed ones. I've recently got the piece down that I was aiming to give my husband for his birthday three years ago, and its still not finished, its got four wild cats heads on and is on black aida, not the best to get back into. I'll try and upload a photo this week to show you all. I love the way you all support each other to get these UFO's finished instead of going out and buying new, (although the excitement of starting a new piece is wonderful eh?) Keep stitching everyone.

I love that design as I love big cats, especially Tigers.
I used my xmas money to buy a lovely Tiger and Cub kit from ebay....can't wait to get started on it :D

Hello, welcome to the thread :j

I will say what we're all thinking...get yer stitching out for the girls lol!!

I love seeing everyone's half completed stuff - even better when we see the final outcome.:D

Ps.....don't tell the others.....but I do still buy new stuff......:o I just add them to the 'things to do' list hehe:rotfl:

I do like the feeling of starting a new piece of work, but I'm just sticking to little things to work on alongside my big UFO.

......must resist.....I have sooo many unopened kits in my stash aswell as the 7 kits I bought with Mums xmas money I got early.....

I have just had a small payrise but it was backdated so I got a nice addition to my pay this month and I bought the following:

    Eight Immortals

    Chinese God of Wealth

    My dream house! and

    The picture version of this

The trouble is I'm desperate to get them all started, particularly the God of Wealth - I'd like to complete this and put it at the front door so that it will protect the money I don't have :rotfl:But I'm going to finish my gd's present and the fishes - maybe an incentive to get them finished as quickly as possible.

I should get my new camera cable by the end of the week so at last I'll be able to post some pictures.
