Some great progress being made -well done everyone :T
Im jealous -I spent my 9 days in hospital with my x-stitch taunting me -It sat there watching me (until I got hubby to stick it in my wardobe)
I couldn't get the strength up to even look through the 2 x-stich mags my lovely mum sent me -Mind the 1st 5 days after the op were spent drugged out of it and sleeping for about 20hrs a day..
Anyhow-Im just glad I got mums "in her garden" finished n framed before I went in :T
Since getting home on friday I have managed to look through the x-stitch gold, and x-stitcher mags and spot loads of xmas designs Im interested in-so I will have to get a riddle on with my UFOs.....
Im not sure when I will be up to sewing again -hopefully soon ..until then I will just have to watch all your progress  -keep up the great work everyone
Glad to hear you're out of hospital now. Take it easy until you feel up to stitching. In the meantime you can go on imaginary online shopping sprees and watch some christmassy films....no? Just me, thenCross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Hi All
Finished my grand nephews stitch :j
http://i891.photobucket.com/albums/a...Baby/Baby2.jpg
Will go out tomorrow and get a frame for it ready to take to the States at the end of the week. Sad news is that he is leaving for his new home on the Wednesday so we miss seeing him by 2 days.
Now I have to think of all the Christmas presents I am taking over with me and get some packing done.
Kind wishes to all

hi all,
little question.......... do you ALWAYS 'colour in' the white sections of your cross stitches with stitches??
I have just finished (apart from the white bits (rails, eyes) of a Thomas the Tank Engine chart. The back is a horrible embarrasing mess of threads (it didn't start well and got worse). Now yessss I know i shoulda done the white first but i HATE doing white on white so i left it.
It looks fine not 'coloured in' (is there a technical term?) and I think will look worse if i do stitch it as it will pull all the thread colour from the back through.
Ideas??? Do you think I can get away with leaving it??loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Chicky, can you post a photo for us to take a look? Personally though, if you think it looks fine then it will be, no-one but you would know it should be stitched.
On my first kit, i did some grass in full x-stitch when it should've been half x-stitch, noboby but me knows and it looks fineWill update tomorrow, sadly the lion is not complete but he's half there
EDIT: chicky looks great, i'd say don't bother stitching itCross Stitch Cafe Member No1WIP: Cross Stitch: - Crochet:0 -
the background is half stitch when it should prob have been full stitch but i prefer to do it this way as i think it makes the main bit stand out.
piccie added while you were writing :-)loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Hi chicky.
I can't see the pic but I'd say if you think it looks fine then don't colour in the spaces with white stitches. If you aren't sure put a few loose stitches in and see what you think. I usually do what I think looks right not what the chart says.
I will add stitches or take them away depending on what I like the look of. As nmm said, no-one will know except you...unless you tell them
Just to let you know if you do decide to do the white and pull some thread from the back all you have to do is look at the back and pull the thread back through with the point of your needle.
It's annoying but very easy to put right (I have just had the same problem when stitching this morning)

hmmmm it vanishedhave tried adding it on again. Failing that it is in this album: http://www.photobox.co.uk/album/216425494
it'd be a lot of threads to pull back throu- I think I'm gonna leave it - perhaps look at it again on December 15th to see if I think it needs the stitches before adding it to neices pressie box.
Thanks. :Tloves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -

My husband likes the wee Scottish flag in addition to all the American like flags that surround the stitch.
Now heres hoping everyone else likes it esp the baby and his family.
Nice to see everyone about this week - hope you are keeping well MrsMac and you will be stitching soon. Hope you feel better soon too Ruth after your wee accident.
Will put some grid lines on my holiday stitch ready to go in my hand luggage for my long flight - already presorted the threads.
Missing not doing my floral alphabet but will start back at again when I come home from my holiday.
Kind wishes to all
