:hello: Wow, you've been chatty! Hope you all had a great bank holiday weekend. I went to a BBQ on Sunday, then on Monday went into London with my DH and a friend. We had a late lunch, wandered around Covent Garden, then went to see La Cage Aux Folles. Great day, although it's SO hot on the tube at the moment.
Tiger-Congratulations! I loved my wedding day. I'm sure you'll have a brilliant time. I quite fancied a winter wedding, but we ended up getting married in May (2002).
I'm quite suprised that there's so many stitchers here around my age. It's nice. MistyBlue-stitching for 23 years and only 30! That's impressive! :T Love your Cattitudes cat too.
I got my mum into cross stitching without even trying. I think she started in 1999 after watching me stitching for a few years. Oh, I did have a friend my age who stitches. She stitched us a Winnie The Pooh wedding sampler. We're not in touch anymore, so I don't know if she still does it though.
Sammy_kaye-I would've offered to send you some thread too, but everyone else beat me to it! Glad you're sorted now.
nmm-Don't you dare let your 30th birthday be just another day! Every birthday is special, but especially milestone ones. Make sure you do something to mark the occasion, even if it's breakfast in bed and a really long bubble bath, followed by an afternoon of uninterrupted stitching & NO housework!
Simac-your polar bears are looking gorgeous! Eden (sky channel) had an animal babies weekend last weekend and they had some cute polar bear cubs on. Soooo sweet!
ocemmer-Your tablecloth is really coming along now. It's such a big piece, but you really are making good progress on it. Well done!
Sayaka-The work you've done for LoveQuilts is lovely! The Mount Rushmore one is very striking. Sounds like a nightmare to stitch, though.
Sweetcarer-I think Joanns http://www.joann.com/joann/index.jsp and Michaels http://www.michaels.com/art/online/home are the 2 big chain craft stores. Joanns often have sales fliers with extra discounts on too. You could search online to see if there are any independent stitching shops near your inlaws too. My mum has a USA stitch shop guide book too. It's a few years out of date, but if you let me know what area you'll be in, I could ask her to check the book for you and then you could look online to find out if they're still open. Walmart used to sell a bit of cross stitch, but I don't think they do anymore. Still worth a look for other things, though. I got a really cheap camera case there and my hubby lives in his Dr Pepper T shirt, which only cost $4!
I think I'm all caught up now. Sorry if I've missed anyone out. All the UFO's are looking good. It really helps having this group to spur us on, doesn't it???
I just wanted to ask if anyone here is planning on going to the stitching show at Alexandra Palace in London next month? I'm going on the 8th (going on holiday on the 9th, so it's the only day I can make) and would love to meet up with anyone that's going.

Whilst Im here -just an update on mums "in her garden" I have done all the back stitching and couching and now Im well into the "cording" which forms the tassles on her shawl...hoping to finish by the weekend-then Im just waiting for my Petite treasure braid to arrive so i can finish of celtic summer -and then Im on to a nice new one :T-
Hope everyone is getting lots done-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Almost finished my Dolly Mamas picture. I need to backstitch the wording on her sign, stitch her mouth and the gold 'stars' in the background. Should be done tomorrow, I would think. Oh, maybe not...I forgot I planned to hem around the design to be able to hang on onto a bell pull, like I did with the other 3 I've finished. This is the one I stitched for my Mum...
Feeling a bit down today as Mum called me to say my Grandma has been taken into hospital. She fell in the garden and can't walk. She's been transferred to another hospital now, so won't know anything more until Mum calls again tomorrow. I wish she wouldn't try and do so much. She's 89 and thinks she can carry on doing everything like she used to 20 years ago!
Think an early night is called for. Night all! xCross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

hope your gran gets better soon. must be the season for grans in hospital, mine is in as well, she took a reaction to some antibiotics the doctor gave her. she is now 90 (will be 91 next april). :heart2:
have to do an emergency cross stitch at weekend (or when my material arrives), my boss went and got married while on holiday - no one knew, so will have to do one before she gets back week on monday. found a nice wee one - 4"x6" - done it before it only takes a weekend or less to do.
my big floral alphabet is coming on nicely - can't get the frame any tighter, and i feel my stitching is lumpy - hubby says it looks fine - so i probably just fussing. it is my first big stitch after everything. it will be approx 20" x 24" when finished. think i will treat it to a visit to the framers when done to get it framed.
hope all is well with everyone else (and their granny), keep stitching, sod house work
sweetcarer:j cross stitch forever, housework whenever :j0 -
It definitely is the season for gran's in hospital, mine ended up in Scarborough hospital on the bank holiday. She's 86 and thinks she is still 20!! My Mum had taken her on a day trip because my uncle is very poorly and then she collapsed!! Bearing in mind we live in the lake district it was a bit stressful aswell! Sending everyone hugs who needs them.
My flower seems to be taking ages, it's driving me mad!

Sweetcarer & Tiger-I hope your Grans are better soon, too. Maybe they all just fancied a rest?
Sounds like we could do with a boost! Let's get some more photos put up and see if that makes us feel any better. Sometimes you don't feel like you're making progress until you see a 'before & after' picture. I'll post mine after I've had a coffee & something to eat. I know it's almost 11am, but I didn't sleep too well.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

I turned 23 in June!
Can I please join in? I'm in awe of everyones work!! Haven't been stitching long (apart from with my grandma when I was little), I have one UFO (trying to resist starting anymore yet or it will end up like my knitting/crochet/spinning/dyeing/sewing and get pushed aside until I get the urge again!) It's only little as it's only my first proper attempt (have done a space invaders pincushion too)
Here is my Sonic the Hedgehog, for my Mum for Christmas:
I'm hoping to finish him today or tomorrow so I can look for something more challenging.
Can anyone suggest some modern-ish kits? I don't really know what I'm looking for next!Grocery Challenge £5.43/£320.00

Hi everyone, sorry to hear about the poorly Grans in hospital, hope they are all feeling better soon. I think it must be something in the air (not just with Grans) because I slipped and fell last Friday and I dislocated my kneecap!!! Hurt a lot, but the plus side was lots of rest, tlc and time to sew. I did a lot of the fiddly inbetween bits of my polar bears so I'm really motivated now and keen to finish it. There is a craft show in Manchester this weekend, so if my knee is up to it, I fancy a hobble round the show for some new ideas, though I am still very taken with the Heaven and Earth designs.
Ruth_Honey - you must be able to read my thoughts. I was watching Eden baby animals programmes. The panda bear one got me, I wish I could adopt one (less chance of it eating me than a polar bear LOL).
Well done to everyone, the UFOs are looking great. MrsM the detail on your picture is amazing, she is so pretty.
Hi jenagain, I like Sonic too. I'll have to keep that one in mind for my lad because he keeps asking me to do a picture just for him. I'd rather sew a character like Sonic than a Lamborghini or Ferrari, I'd never have the motivation to finish something like a car!:xmastree:What a splendid idea, this Christmas sounds fun. I fully endorse it, let's try it at once!:xmastree:0
