Hi Guys, I'm new here and just wanted to say what a cool site :T
I've stumbled accross this forum whilst looking into reclaiming my bank charges and so far I have...
a) Requested my statements
b) calculated that the halifax have taken a huge £2111 pounds from me in charges in the last six years
c) used this spreadsheet link http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk...read.php?t=182
to calculate my interest owed
and now I have the following question before I send my letter...
On my bank statements my charges are all displayed as "Charges as notified", therefore is it acceptable for me to use this on my spreadsheet as the description, or do I somehow need to find out what each individual charge was for? and if so how can I do this?
I'm really excited about potentially reclaiming some of this money so any help you can give me is appreciated
Many Thanks

Strangely excited but have sent my two letters off to Nationwide and Abbey for my statements and my other halfs Nationwide as well. Kinda weird waiting to hear back from them knowing that their is a 99.9% chance that we will see that money back again which as an average estimate over the three accounts for both of us is about £2.5k, so with a £13k debt & 3 kids would make a large dent and some breathing space as well.0

Finally talked my mum into doing it, she's wrote to Halifax requesting the past 6 years statements, she got a reply this morning saying they are on their way (or summat to that effect!)
Also she wrote to Capital One, and received a letter also this morning with all the charges listed, a staggering £1330, if she gets that back it will clear her debt with them and leave alot left over!!
Should she write and ask nicely for it back or just send the letter that starts with without predjudice (sp) (the one that gives examples of other cases) ?
Hmmm If/when she gets it back wonder if ill get a cut "MUUUUUUUUM........"

When I did mine mate I didn't include the spreadsheet. I only used that to work out the interest that you would get if you proceed to court action.
I take it you are at the early stages and are sending your "Request For Refund Of Charges" letter? If so you don't need to worry about the spreadsheet just yet!

hey, thanks for your advice..
yes I am at the point when I am about to send my first letter asking for refund, but I thought I read somewhere on this thread that you should attach your spreadsheet with the letter to show all the charges by date??
