DFW Bank Charges Reclaim Thread

Don't know what came over me earlier. Why I was leaving out my bank's name I don't know!
I bank with ABBEY - or blood-sucking, soul-destroying, unsympathetic leeches as they should be called.
And I'd also like to name and shame Southern Pacific Mortages Ltd (completely off topic, but I'm on a roll now) for being rude, unhelpful and very very unsympathetic too. See you in court on Monday, guys, where you will applying for a Suspended Possession Order on our house because we can't keep up with your over-the-top demands. Thanks for not helping with interest-only payments for awhile and cheers to your cold staff who clearly couldn't care less that I have two very young children who go without bloody everything in order to meet your extortionate interest rate!
Ahhhh, feel much better now, thanks.:o0 -
Hi
Could someone give me some advice on what i should do with my bank charges. The bank is Natwest.
I have had £136 charges this month for various reasons. I phoned natwest up and after talking to loads of people i finally got £35 refunded.
I wasnt happy with this so i went to the bank today to see someone in person thinking that would make a difference. I told him that the charges we unfair as of the OFT ruling and i wanted all my charges back. His first response was --- "well if you dont like it there are plenty of other banks out there. But we all do the same regarding charges". Nice response i thought.
He has just phoned me back and said they were will to refund £38 back. If i agree then the bank will send me a letter stating that this was a one off payment and no future payments will be made.
What i'm worried about is if i accept the payment and then go and try to reclaim all my charges over the last 6 years this letter might damage my chances if i had to go to court.
What do you think ?? God i hope that all made sense!0 -

DON'Taccept the 38.oo payment. Have you checked for all your charges for the past six years? If not find out the total following previous advice on this thread and that of the bank action group, and stand your ground.0 -
I sent a letter to halifax on Saturday asking for them to send me a list of charges over the past six years. (with a view to claiming them back ) I gave them 40 days to do this. I stated for the £10.00 charge, that they could take it from my bank account.
Have received a letter today stating the ususal rubbish. They enclosed a list within the letter stating that I had incurred £1762.00.
In the same letter they offered me a £95.00 refund as a goodwill gesture. :rotfl: OH how I laughed my socks off. Are they for real? Don't they read this website. Good news is though, they said they would waiver the ten pound charge.
Now,..... shall I accept this fantastic offer?
... I bloomin think not!!!:D0 -

First time logging in. Great site. Hope I am doing this properly.
I am currently tryng to get charges refunded from BOS on behalf of my son. I sent them the first letter I think most of you send and got a nice reply saying sorry I was unhappy with their service and a leaflet with details of the Ombudsman etc. I wrote back and told them that it was not their services that were in question but the legallity of their charges. Used the Punitive word and UTCCRs stuff. Today we went ahead and put our application into the small claims court. By an almost spooky coincidence we recieved a letter from BOS offering £60 of a refund (we are asking £318 + court expenses in the court). Of course they make a great deal of how they incur charges for every transaction made blah blah.
We are ignoring the offer as it sucks and they want to be full and final settlement. However, they made this statement in their letter "We believe it is fair to pass these costs on to the accounts affected, rather than absorb them into other areas of our operations, PENALISING, all our other customers as a result". Bloody cheeky bast'ds.
Will keep you up to date with the Final conflict (or lack of it)in court.
Thanks to everyone for the education I have received from reading these posts.0 -

And now, they dangle a little bit of it to make you cave in? Them of the unlimited billions, they are baiting you with a couple of hundreds?
And finally: People have had their money back from Barclays. The survey at https://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk shows that, and you have to remember that we estimate only about 1/4 of people actually fill in the survey, so you can draw your own conclusions. Barclays seem to hold out for longer, that's all. But since they act as unlawfully as the others, I can't see them being any more anxious to end up in court than the others.
Thanks Bookworm! I know I was being soft, but it was very tempting. Letter will be printed and posted tomorrow. When I think when they nicked that money from me ... my work cocked up my maternity pay and I couldn't afford to buy coal for the fire (NOT OLD, just old house!) and essentials for the very poorly baby - it's enough to make me cry, thinking how desperate we were ...
