I got the interest on mine. Yes I think I was being greedy, but the woman who phoned me said "well its only 7 quid, better you having it than us"

Im not bothering to work it out for my LLoyds account, thats over a grand and Im sure they are going to quibble it, so Im just asking for the charges back on thier own.

you can use the excel spread sheet on the BAG website to work out the interest ( they also now have a online calculator for those that do not have excel ) - mine works out well over a hundred pounds but I didnt think I could go for it if it didnt go to court. Thanks for that Lynz

Hi, I sent a letter to First Direct and Halifax (closed account) a few weeks ago stating the amount in charges I wished to have refunded (luckily i had all my statements so that cut out that step) as I expected the letters came back saying that the charges were clearly outlined in the contract and I signed it so bad luck.
So the next day I went to claims online and paid my £120 and low and behold a letter arrived from First Direct's solicitors this morning offering me the whole amount (over £1300). Although they said they were not acknowledging the charges as unfair they recognised that going through the court system would be more costly to them. Hopefully Halifax will see the light and do the same, I shall keep you posted....

You're not entitled the the interest on it until it reaches court, when the county courts act kicks in, and allows you to claim it. Until that point, you just claim the amount they deducted from you in charges. If you try and claim it before then, they WILL query it, and they'll assume that you do not fully understand what you are trying to do - and therefore that they'll either be able to trip you up, or will hope you'll give up sooner rather than later.

But yes, once mine went to court, I got my interest ;) (well... I will have once the payment arrives in my account!)

Legally they cant keep your confidence unless you have signed for it.

People on the BAG forum are pricing thier confidence at tens of thousands.. lets see shall we?

Oops did you use the letter from the baG forum them? Cos that specifically gives the 8% interest, & they have a spreadsheet for it.

I think you needed to aask for it in that letter, could be wrong tho...

Claiming the interest has to be done as part of the online claim - if you didn't include it in the claim amount, and also include the statutory wording for claiming interest under the county courts act in your court claim, I doubt you'll get it

You might need to cancel that claim and start another one? I'd go back to the BAG forums and ask them!
