Hello everyone, this is a nice inspiring thread. I am just starting to diet. I have hit 30 and am ballooning. My sister used to have real problems with her weight (about size 22 at one point) and tried lots of diets. She managed to get to about size 14 and a bit by using Slimming World. She said it was healthier than weight watchers etc as fruit and veg was free. I lost my sister a couple of years ago but would like to use the same diet. I have one book that she had which lists the free foods and gives an introduction to the diet. I have photocopied the daily diary sheets and bought the magazine. I can't afford to join and I wondered if anyone had any recipe suggestions for recipes that would be free on the Green days (I am virtually veggie) or if anyone knew where I could get recipes for free on the internet or something.

Thank you kindly and thanks for all the inspiring stories. I have gone up a couple of sizes and hope to come back here in a few month having dropped again.

Lost the capacity to link in a neat way but there is a recipe thread here (some are SW specific some aren't)

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=180748&highlight=weight+recipes

There's a 'I wanna lose weight' thread here where there are a few vegetarians(there's a poster called consultant31 who is a RL SW consultant in case you haven't seen her around these parts):

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=177638&highlight=weight+recipes

There's also an msn forums for SW here (be warned some of the syn contents may have changed in recent times!):

    http://uk.msnusers.com/SlimmingWorldSupport/greendayrecipe.msnw

I know that's alot of info and no real recipes!

SW chips are the staple of my green SW diet :o and to make those it's just a case of chopping some potatos to look like chips, par-boiling your 'chips' until soft, then putting them on a baking tray, spraying them with fry light and baking them for 30mins ish.

    I'm obesessed with them!

Good luck and come and see us on the 'lose weight 6' thread if you have a chance!

Thanks SO much for the links. People are so nice and helpful : )
I will try those chips as soon as I get the fry light spray!

Nghaaaaa my diet is annoying me. I've hit another plateau and it's just refusing to come off! I'm actually getting really down about it :( Need some serious action but I dunno what

I managed another 2 mile run today... will do again tomorrow. Less then 2 weeks til my RFL and I'm getting nervous that I won't be able to jog 3 miles solid which I really want too!!

Also I need some new running stuff.. mine is too warm and drab.. but finding "nice" stuff in size 22/24 that suits me and that isn't too expensive is impossible! :(

Ok my bad.. just splashed £43 (did get a 20% discount) on some reebok training bottoms and Lonsdale T-shirt that go up to my fattie sizes! Not debtfree situation, but will make me feel much more comfortable and hence more determined to carry on after RFL!!! And I saved loads ££££££ on my Lidl running trainers (that are the best pair of trainers I ever had..go figure!!).

I've gained 2lbs this month as well Mrs A!! I agree it makes you feel really down... and I've been exercising, went on a 5 mile walk on Wednesday and been walking round a shopping centre for over two hours today with my sister as she was looking for a party dress and she couldn't decide which one to get!

Made me feel more determined to keep at the diet/exercise though as there were loads of lovely summer dresses in the shops, but I know I would just look like a sack of spuds in a summer dress at the moment!! Hopefully by next summer I'll be svelte and swanning about in a tiny dress! :)
