Well done badgergal you sound very committed! Keep up the fabulous work, you won't regret it when you are super fit, sprinting up those stairs at work and slinking around in a sexy pencil skirtBank Balance: In the black for the moment.

Can I join in please?
I have debts of around £30k and around 5 stone to get rid of.
Since reading some of this thread last week, I have made a conscious effort to get off my backside and get out every day to do somecheap/free exercise.
My kids think I have gone off my rocker making them go out playing frisby or tig or just going on a good walk in an afternoon. We played hide and seek in the local woods yesterday which was really good fun, running round trying to find trees big enough to hide behind !!!!
It is still very early days, and I do have a lot of weight to lose. I hurt all over, but I am detemined to carry on.
I have got a pedometer somewhere so I will use it tomorrow and see how many steps I can do.
Thanks for the inspiration guys. Heres to losing the debt and the flab.Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches :think:Loves being a Wonderbra friend :kisses3:

Hi spud! Welcome, come on in!
Hey I used to love playing tig & frisby & hide and seek when I was a kid....that is what being a kid was all about....running around and playing.
Do kids really think their parents are off their rockers for doing all that stuff now? I haven't got kids so I don't know....
Anyway yeah as long as you are up & about & MOVING on a regular basis then it'll all help. And free or as cheap as possible is the name of the game!
Love the idea of frisby you know......Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

Thanks LookingAhead.
My kids are 10 and 8.
All their lives I have been a couch potato, so I guess it's a bit of a shock for them to suddenly have a mum that's trying to run round.
I did try skipping recently. Hubby pointed out that I am a bit big to be skipping, and he was right - next day I felt like I had broken every rib !!!
My problem is that exercise has to be fun. I can't afford gym membership but don't think I would use it if I could. I have all the equipment here, but I find it really boring.
If you are loving the idea of frisby, I think ours was 40p from Tesco at the weekend.
Anyway, thanks for the support and I promise I will keep moving. Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches :think:Loves being a Wonderbra friend :kisses3:

Yep exercise definitely has to be fun for me too!
I love dancing. Whenever I have the house (or even the lounge!) to myself I get up and shake my (sizeable) booty:rotfl:
If you do that, it helps. Put your pedometer on too when dancing about, you'll be surprised how many steps you rack up. I regularly get more than my 10000 a day that way.
What about a hula hoop!?!?! That idea has just come to me. If you have a daughter especially that could be hilarious!
Anyway brilliant spud...you are no longer a couch potato, you've made the change now...there's no going back! Just remember to keep telling yourself that. You used to be one....now you've changed.Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

A hula hoop - what a great idea. They don't cost much do they!
I have a girl and a lad so can legally hula hoop and climb trees. I can get mucky whilst having painted nails !!!
I'm sat here filling up at the thought of being a former couch potato. What a lovely feeling. Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches :think:Loves being a Wonderbra friend :kisses3:

Hi spud30 and welcome.
You know, I really admire you! Aside from the fact that you're getting yourself in shape, you're setting a wonderful example to your kids. The couch potato generation has just stopped right there with you showing them that exercise is fun.
You're giving them the best start to adult life. Don't you dare stop! What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about? :eek:Official "Bring back Mark and Lard NOW! or else (please)" Member 160 -
Thanks Minnie.
Now I've come out of the closet and gone public, I wouldn't dare stop.
My daughter is very sporty and lean, but I can see that my son could end up like me. It's easier to help him now at 8 than to leave him and risk him suffering bullying in a few years.
As you say, we must lead by example. Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches :think:Loves being a Wonderbra friend :kisses3:
