Hi. I would like to join this thread as i have been reading and posting odd questions here and there but this time i would like to join.
Here we go....... I am 18 stones    and 5" 8 so i definatly need 2 loose at least 5-6 stones and its proving difficult. I am blessed to recently get a job in a leisure centre which allows me 2 use the gym for 10 pound a month. I just need the motivation as i have been big all my life and i am a bit scared to try just in case i fail.
Im going to go to the gym tomorrow as i aim to go three times a week. Just thought id post on here for accountibility sake.

    Thanks

    Chai

And tap water is FINE of course, this is DFW after all!
Nghaaaaaa, so long as you don't mind poisoning your body with flouride. I even pay extra to avoid flouridated toothpaste, it's evil (I use Euthymol - it's certainly one of a kind provided you can stomach the taste of antiseptic in your mouth :D It makes Listerine seem tame and it's also amusingly bright pink. Don't cover up bad breath, kill the bacteria that produce it!). Anyhoo, I strongly suggest you break the myth and google around for the truth about flouride.

It's one to add to your list of things you were always told that were good when they really weren't: free credit, secured loans, smoking, pesticides, MMR, etc. etc. etc.

Well I'm back, lost another stone now, just 3 stone left until my target weight now :T :j :T Doing *lots* more exercise also. I'm even spending more time awake and doing things now which is a great help if you spend a lot of time sitting still/sleeping. I only send like 4 hours a day doing nothing now (sleeping) You definitely notice weight loss with much more energy expenditure and all you need is to keep yourself busy!

Glad to hear you're all doing well and self loving. Keep it up folks

Went for my second run today, it would have been sooner if the icky sore throat hadn't struck! Am now very pink of face! But I have a special round running bottle now :)

Wish my pedometer would arrive so I could track distances etc!

Unfortunately I'm finding it so hard to stop snacking, I try and choose healthier snacks but even they're no good if you scoff too many of them! Desk jobs are the worst for this, I think. Still, at least stuff like fruit isn't empty calories...

Just completed the "Step" reebok video for the first time. Missed out a few lunges (Had a car accident 4 years ago left me with occasional dodgy back and dodgy knee - which I broke 15years ago so it is a bit weak) But, having said that I don;t feel too bad!

My aim is to slim down for our holiday on August 17th. It's going to be a great one, we decided to spoil ourselves for one time only with the last year we have had...

Regarding pedometers. I have one but always find either -
    a) it doesn't count along with the steps I take
    or
    b) it counts far to many steps....

Can anyone help me out, any suggestions

Edit to say - I drink loads or water at least 1 litre per day, today I have had 2.25 litre!
It's nice to be nutty but's more important to be nice

Good on you for doing the step video! Keep it up! :D

Re: pedometer. Is it one where you have to programme in your 'stride' length? That involves measuring your inside leg and the distance between your back foot and where your foot lands when you take a step blah blah. The instructions will have come with it. If so, you may need to re-programme it.

Failing that, if it is taking too many, use it to get a rough idea i.e. if you take one step and it always counts 3, then you need to do 30,000 steps a day ( :rotfl: ).

If it is taking too little then obviously do the reverse. I think I got that right!

If it is doing too many and then too little and you can't reprogramme it....get rid of it! ;)

Hi all, have now recovered from my cold and I'm feeling much chirpier (apart from I went for a job interview today and I didn't get the job... still onwards and upwards, or whatever it is they say!)

Weighed myself yesterday and was sure I would have put on weight due to inactivity and eating rubbish while I was ill, but I've managed to lose 1lb! :j Have 17 days left to try and lose 2.5lbs to reach my first goal of losing one stone, I've even survived a few days staying with my family while they have munched their way through a small biscuit mountain, and I didn't have any at all!

Ok, here goes on the best butt working exercises. I'm a personal fitness trainer and can guarantee you'll feel these! Lunge walking (like lunging but keep going forward with each step), static lunges, squats, Hip thrusts - back to that staying in comment again ..... and walking on your butt across the floor! Would recommend you only do some of these in the privacy of your own home though - particularly the butt walking. Walking is great to burn fat, try walking at normal pace for a couple of mins then speeding up for a min then repeating. Works you harder. Good luck with it.

Went for my third run/walk yesterday, according to my pedometer I did 2.5km which sounds about right, ran along the canal, did a few laps of one of the fields in the park and back again!

Had quite a good day, foodwise, yesterday, but only because my evening was filled with shopping which was really rather naughty. I came across a reasonably priced suit in Zara and couldn't help myself, marched all around the Zara stores in Oxford/Regent Street til I had the right size combination!

It's kind of justified because of my new job requiring suits for important meetings etc but I still feel really bad, I also picked up some tops that would do for work as my wardrobe is so casual. Went home and put a coat on ebay that I don't really like any more to make amends (and take advantage of free gallery day!), and will do more over the weekend!
