I too have one of those photos from 10/11 years ago....me in a little tie-dye swimsuit and sarong, tanned and with long sun-bleached hair on a deserted beach in Bali....all of 9st2lb and I too thought I was fat!!!!! I've put the photo out to inspire me (not that I'll get back to 9.2) and a male mate spotted it....conversation went like this
    "Corrr.....who'se THAT?"
    "Me"
    "No way - she's gorgeous"
    "Thanks"

:rotfl: I'm not laughing *at* you freebird, it's just that I can imagine your face when you uttered the "thanks" and the mortified expression on the guys face. One of those moments when you want to fall through the floor and never come out again (the bloke I mean).

I hope he made it up to you.

    Keep the photo out honey.

I have been walking and dancing away in my lounge at every given opportunity since discovering my old photo........desperately trying to find a bit more muscle definition in my thigh...! :rotfl:

    Hello all.

May I join in here for some motivation please? You are all so nice. :o

I am at my heaviest at this point in time, and am starting to bulge out of the clothes I have got, and can't afford to buy any more. My parents offer to buy me more clothes, but I feel like if I buy in a larger size it is like admitting I am comfortable with my size which I am not.

I want to lose 1.5 - 2 stone. I have already started to attempt to eat less of everything, which is how I lost weight once before.

I see that running is a good way to lose extra weight, but I have knee problems so I don't think it would be a good idea for me, but I am now going to start walking/cycling to and from work (2.5 miles each way.)

Thanks for listening (or reading, rather) :)

    Welcome to the thread!

New clothes sounds like excellent motivation and you're doing the right thing by eating less. Walking and cycling sound good too - if you're clocking up 5 miles a day, that's good going!

For extra motivation, why not treat yourself to a pedometre? A few of us have them and they're good (if addictive!) fun.

I'd also suggest chopping your goal into pieces. Two stone can sound daunting, but aiming for a couple of pounds a week is more achievable. I put my weight loss on a spreadsheet and then covert it into a chart every week. Looking at the line sloping down is a real thrill!
 What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about?

    Thanks. :)

    The chart idea sounds great.

I have a pedometer, and an excel spreadsheet which lists approx calories consumed for the day, total steps taken, calories burned and weight for that day.

I would hate to see what my chart would look like from the past 5 years

I have some clothes that I bought ages ago but could not fit into even then, so I am excited by the prospect of being able to wear them and not squeeze in them.

    Hello
I have been a bit down of late, i don't have any energy and work has driving me nuts, i haven't been able to concentrate on dieting or on money saving. Why does life gets so hard? Don't we deserve a break sometimes? I seems like a vicious circle isn't it - you get down so you want chocolate, you eat it, so you spend money, so you get down and there you go around in a circle.
Sorry for the winge but things have just been getting on top of me recently.

    Aw, (((Lem)))!

You've hit a bit of wall is all. It happens to us all. Thank you for coming back and telling us - you're in the right place for support.

Promise me that you'll do one nice thing for yourself tomorrow. It doesn't have to cost money - maybe you could go for a brisk walk at lunchtime tomorrow - it will get your heart racing and break up the day. Or perhaps you could get off here right now and make yourself a luscious lunch for tomorrow? Or go and run yourself a nice hot bubble bath and just relax.

We've got a nice long weekend coming up so take a couple of hours out to review your SOA, plan a menu for the week and take some time out to spend time with a good friend for a chat.

We're always on here too - visit often.

    All the best xxx

Whats an indoor skive dive? Is it what she did on celebrity fat club?
If so looks lots of fun!!

Was just thinking of something a doctor told my mam years ago, that elastic waists are the downfall of women, and I think he has a point!

Anyway good luck with your diets/exercise over the weekend :)

Theres nothing wrong with taking a bit time off and having that chocolate, if it makes you feel a bit better for a week or so then I'm sure you'll get back on the bandwagon again.
I don't believe in depriving yourself forever, and I don't think you should feel guilty either, so take a break from it, relax and come back motivated for another phase of money saving/healthy lifestyling! (if that's a word)

    Thanks for the support :)

I am thinking of getting a pedometer to measure distance etc, is there anything wrong with the ones for a few pounds on ebay?
