Tell me about it, crazyscientist! I know its only been less than a week, but I've lost nowt and I'm being mega good like you:mad: I guess whats keeping me going has been finding out that there are loads of people just like me (ie, silly with money and grub!) I'm going to have chilli con carne and brown rice for my tea, and hopefully it'll blow a few calories out, if you know what I mean!!!!!!;)Total debt £20,000 Northern Rock loan:eek:

Don't be downhearted after not seeing results very quickly! It probably takes a while to settle into the routine and to start noticing the effect. And anyway, I bet you feel better in yourself because of everything you've done, even if there hasn't been any loss just yet. Focus on how nice exercise and healthy eating make you feel, don't obsess about the weight and you'll have lost some before you know it!! Of course, muscle is heavier than fat so you might have lost some fat and gained some muscle from your exercise, which is great!Don't stress, relax, let life roll off your backs. Right, an update from me!!
I'm back at uni now after 3 week easter holiday in which I did very little exercise (except for some walking). I also ate rather a lot (including an easter egg of course!). So I came back determined to get back into old routines and not let the laziness linger!
So, I have just been swimming and thoroughly enjoyed it! I would normally do 40+ lengths but was feeling the effect of not going for 4 weeks and so only did 30. I feel nicely tired now - I can feel that I've been exercising but I haven't done any permanent damage to myself :rotfl:
I've also made some positive steps with my eating. I was talking the other evening about changing habits and it got me thinking. I realised that often i eat out of habit rather than because I'm actually hungry (or actually want the stuff I'm eating). Also, when I feel the need to snack on something it usually ends up being something not particularly healthy!
So I've made a new rule for myself, a new habit to get into! When i feel hungry I always eat a piece of fruit and drink something water based (like squash or just water) with the promise that if I'm still hungry after that I can have something more substantial. Usually that does the trick and I don't end up absent mindedly 'grazing' on chocolate, crisps etc
I've also found that I listen to my body a lot more now and don't eat when I'm not hungry. If I was having a food I liked I'd make a 'generous' amount of it but now I stop and think 'how hungry am I?'. Once this week I didn't make the planned big evening meal because I really didn't feel hungry - I just had small things as and when I felt hungry through the evening (fruit, bran flakes, sandwich etc. I know that structured meals are a good way to eat but I can't help thinking its best to listen to my body in that kind of situationThankfully i only cook for myself so I have the freedom to be able to change the plans I've made (being a good dfw I always have a meal plan!).
So.... to sum up all that rambling..... I'm feeling quite positive about losing weight at the mo, with thanks to the ideas and motivation on this thread! :T I've only lost about 0.5kg since I weighed in at 73kg but it's a step in the right direction and I'm not in a hurry!!
Many thanks to all of you and congrats on your own efforts and successes :beer:Don't stress, relax, let life roll off your backs. Never done this before but I need some outside support. I'm, or should I say we are in debt and have been for years and also had depression, running a business and a family. Sorted myself out a number of years ago and brought a big house with a big mortgage. I was earning the money to afford it. Anyway the depression came back and now we used up or savings and owe a ton of money and little in the way of work. Its been a slow downhill path and now at the bottom. I had a breakdown 4 months ago and now about there. On happy tablets... but the only person to sort this out is me. Anyway my wife works and have three children too. My wife supports me but wants to get stuff sorted and spend money on the house. I am old fashioned views with money and view debt as shame. We have never been this far and I'm very worried. I'm in a job where I can earn very good money and I beleive I can pull it off, but I would like support out there to help me through this over the next couple of months or years to pay everything off as well as losing weight. I want to be debt free and lose 5 stone. Its lonely when you know thats I the one thats caused the mess and i have to sort it out ASAP. Anyway, i have never been good a writing stuff and I hope you understand.0
