I got a freebie Kellogs pedometer today! Very easy to use just clip to your waistband and off you go I didn't even need to programme in my inside leg measurements and all the rest of it!
Not sure how long it will last though as I can't see if you can replace the battery.
Anyhow I am just off to try and work out how many "steps" you take if you put on a good & funky track and boogie for 3 mins

amosworks wrote:Wow well done Callisto! I do hope you lose something but you've got to realise that losing weight is easier done slowly over a longer period than all at once with a huge effort, so if you don't get the results you want please don't get down
Go out and walk the hills again
Good luck!
Thanks amos! It's just that I wasn't expecting the walk to be so long or strenuous as the group leader said it wouldn't be difficult, so I was expecting two hours maximum with a few gentle slopes...Will definitely go walking again tomorrow, so that will be my three sessions for the week (as also went earlier in the week.) Will keep it at three sessions per week for a couple more weeks and then build up to four sessions a week. Will probably alternate cycling and walking when I've found some decent cycle routes in the area.
Lookingahead - I laughed so much at your Arnie remark! :rotfl: I would love to see even a hint of muscle definition, still hidden under the flab so far... I don't have any 'barometer' trousers other than a pair I can't fit into - I think I will need to lose another stone before I have any hope of fitting into them. I also have a gorgeous green Chinese style dress (almost floor length with splits up the sides) which won't fit over my hips, can't wait until the day I can wear that!
As for hobnob biscuits, my Dad was scoffing them the other day, they have shocking fat/calories for such a small thing... not really a huge biscuit fan myself anyway, usually go straight for the cakes instead.
That's a great step rate for 3 1/2 minutes... how many songs will you need to dance to, to reach 10,000 steps then? I don't know the answer to this as I'm rubbish at maths... anyone else?0 -
Well 21 x 478 is 10038 so that would be a night out I guess!
Corrr I'd love to go to a decent club again. One where people actually dance (to some decent music, doesn't matter how old the track is) and don't just stand around looking at each other. Oh and no sticky beer drenched carpet would be nice.
Sigh......Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

Right I have decided to jump in here even though I have only gotten as far as page 9 so far.
Reading amosworks posts has got me in atkins mode again.
I can honestly say I have "never ever" eaten so healthley as when I was on the atkins diet, everything fresh as it comes out of the ground with nothing added and I lost 3 stone.
I gained 3 stone in 2 months due to steroids and under active thyroid .
I got this under control and also joined a gym for the first time in my life.
I too love" bad "carbs but I can be really rigid when I want to be and really lax when I want to be.
So here I am female/ 48/ 12 stone 5 pounds and only 5" 2 inches have only ever been 8 stone, mind I did find an old weight watchers book and my starting weight was 8 stone 6 pounds and I thought I was FAT !!!!!!!!!.
Saw my reflection in a shop window this week and thought to myself " you are your mum" and I am gutted.
Mum has been dead 8 yrs this week so no disrespect but I want to look sexy again not mumsy.0 -
Hi glitter. I know it is a long old thread but do read it all (bit by bit!) as you will be bang up to date!
Well done you on joining the gym and getting the other things under control.
If it is any consolation I think it is most womans nightmares to realise they are turning into their Mums as mucha s we love(d) them and I am one of those people!
You can do this and you will. And it's not just about getting "skinny" (again read the thread!)...the right clothes and a sense of well being will help a great deal.
OK I have to go to bed now but hope to see you on here again soon!
Night all.

Lucifer wrote:Morning all - Just wanted to let you know that I have now lost 1 stone 9.5lbs. So another weight loss for me. Am up to about 40 miles a week on my bike. I AM GOING TO BE 9 STONE BY CHRISTMAS!!
I watched 10 years younger - bikini special last night. The woman lost 8.5 stone in 8 months (went from a size 32 to a 12). Really bad spare skin problem. I am going mad trying to tone up so I don't have the problem (I want to go from a 20 to a 12).
Working extra hard this week as want to lose 4.5lbs to get my 2 stone award at slimming world.
Keep going guys!!
I saw that too, what a massive change in her at the end!! Even getting her teeth sorted made such a difference.
I assume that the main problem she had with her skin was becasue she was losing a stone a month TOO FAST !! so the skin didn't have a chance to tone up (and maybe having 4 kids didnt help either).
I don't know how you lot feel about surgery but I think diet and excercise is really the way to go about it unless you are seriosuly going to be very ill/die!
Worth a watch next week as it's another similar story.Official DFW Nerd 071/£2 saver=£10

Good morning cuddlies, and welcome to glitter!
Now, I did say I wasn't weighing myself until the 1st June but I had such a good day yesterday that I couldn't help myself.....
The sun was shining and it was so lovely yesterday I decided to go for a long walk in the hills, all on my own but very enjoyable - said hello to a few fellow walkers as I went along my way. Then I had a spare hour in the evening so went swimming too! I'm actually a little achey this morning, but not painful, just that good ache that means you know you've been working.
Anyway, enough suspense, this morning I was .... 12st exactly
Fingers crossed for another nice day so I can bunk off work again and get out in the sunshine!
Think I'll try MinnieSpiders abs working out now - you're ace!

Hurrah hurrah for all those losing weight, I can honestly say I've never been so motivated to lose weight, I've tried so many times half heartedly and never really got anywhere, but this time I'm gonna do it!!:D
Freebird, that was atrocious treatment in riverisland, I worked in there for about aweek after i left school and the clothes are cheaply made rubbish at not cheap prices and they're cut badly too! One day the embryo will have 2 kids no life etc etc and then, how we'll laugh!;)
Cycled again last night, listening to aerosmith, ragdoll while testing the older sproglet on her spellings, what must the neighbours think?!!:jTotal debt £20,000 Northern Rock loan:eek:

hello all of you
well I have read this thread from start to finish (and doing very little work in the process) and have decided to join too.
I don't have that much to lose, just 7lbs (well even 4 will do really) as i am only a little'un (9st now). With yesterday's sunshine I decided to get the summer wardrobe out of hibernation (very DFW, I would usually just buy new stuff) and I couldn't fit into most of it
So, my plan, cut down the booze and eating out (tricky as my job entails lots of socialising), do 30 mins of exercise per day (have dusted off the trampette, the neighbours must think I have very noisy bed springs and a stash of viagra :rotfl: ) and make healthier choices with food.
Will let you know how I'm getting on. Keep up the good work everyone :TSaving for an early retirement!0
