Hehe well why not keep lots of handy healthy snacks about so you can reach for them just as easily as you can for a bar of chocolate? Why not keep a few apples amongst your chocolate stash and get some small fruit bowls and dot them around near where you binge eat? Put things like clementines, satsumas and bananas in them that small nice so as you leave them they start to spread their lovely aroma around the room and you get cravings to eat them instead?0

I hate to say this Amos, but there can be a mountain of yummy healthy food around the kitchen, but my hand will still completely ignore my brain and head straight for the bad stuff.....even if it's a teeny square of chocolate hidden in the cupboard by OH...I WILL find it...especially around 4-5pm after a day of fruit and veg and things...hehehehe
Welcome Boro Cass and neveranymoney to our Cuddle......it's very motivational around here....I'd never have stuck to it for 3 weeks without it so hopefully you'll find it useful too......and there's always our resident comedian (minniespender) to make us laugh out loud when things get tough!
Have a steaming hot bath before your date girl - it should loosen up those aching muscles.....either that or you go wearing Eau de Deep Heat!
I'm liking this dancing around to music idea....fitness vids have never done it for me.....I think I'll go sort out my old dance cd's before I pack for my holiday!0 -
Hi neveranymoney! Welcome.
This is maybe going to sound harshly simplistic but I'll say it anyway........just don't buy the chocolate! Next time you are in the shop (or by the vending machine) and your hand goes towards it, just pause for one moment and think thoughts along the lines of:
a) It'll take a lot longer to lose 4 stone if I keep doing this
or
b) Do I really want to lose 4 stone? If so why am I buying this because I know I will eat it and it's hardly going to help.
or
c) My body does not need actually need this chocolate
or
d) I am the one in control here not the chocolate so why am I letting it get the better of me?
or
e) Picture the ideal body shape you want to be (don't go for something ridiculously out of reach like..I dunno...Kylie, not unless you are her height and have her type of bone structure) and remember that the chocolate will not help you get to that target. Think leaner or nicely curvier rather than skinny and unattainable. Far more attractive & healthy anyway.
or
f) All of the above!
That all said, I am not totally against eating chocolate as some of my posts have revealed!! I think we need to reward ourselves now and then or we just blow a gasket and go totally overboard - then feel dreadful afterwards.
If you are going to buy chocolate invest in the good quality stuff (high cocoa content = usually fair trade) and buy a small bar. That stuff is so rich you just don't need a lot and it's better for you too.
So yes, you should have a treat from time to time but make it GOOD stuff. Don't buy biscuits & cakes and the like anymore...a waste of money for a start and quite frankly, what do they offer you in terms of nutrition? At least rich dark choccy offers some antioxidant value and a little iron. (Don't take that as a ticket to have a massive blow out on the stuff though!)
You'll save cash and lose weight at the same time...maybe you could put your savings on 'treats' towards a new outfit in a smaller size! :T
Good luck and let us know your progress! :beer:Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

Thanks for those Looking Ahead, they're fab! :T
I always struggle to take the long term view and end up giving in to temptation but I reckon saying those things to myself will really help :j
I only eat green and blacks 70% dark choc now, am determined to have a maximum of one of the small bars each week and be strict with myself!

Kath....Green & Blacks = mmmmmmmmmmmmm!
I didn't want to mention them again for fear of being accused of being obsessed/working for their marketing department! :rotfl:Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

You're quite right LookingAhead.....and I don't buy chocolate (OH does...grrrr) for that reason! And for once I HAVE been following your hints, mainly cos I a) want that leaner body and b) like being able to post a little post weigh-in success on here on Tuesday nights as the support (and cheers) always makes me more determined to carry on.
As for just having a square or so of Green & Blacks, who was it said in a much earlier post that they'd just managed to polish off a whole bar despite best intentions????:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Have never tried it so if I lose again tomorrow then I'll reward myself with one as a pre-hol treat. I'm off for 11 days on Fri and will attempt to be relatively good so I don't let the Cuddle down by undoing all my good work.0 -
Spent the whole morning ironing and trying on clothes. Decided to draw a line at the uber-gorgeous corset (which does the nipping in the waist job perfectly) and go a little more casual.
Attempted a trial walk to Spar (went along the back streets in effort to not frighten the horses) and had to stop and grab hold of a lamp-post as I was laughing so hard at my gait. Ho hum, good job I already know the chappie in question - he knows I'm half barmy so won't be too shocked.
Am now sitting here, fag in hand, Chardonnay at the ready and hair in curlers reading the site and wondering whether to go red or pink for my nails.
Have just read this back and realise that I have, in fact, morphed into Bridget Jones. What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about? :eek:Official "Bring back Mark and Lard NOW! or else (please)" Member 160 -
