I'm not a big fan of counting calories myself - too much effort! At least this site does it for you and will tell you if you're using up what you consume. It's win/win really!

I like to read this thread, but I'm fed up of hearing about the Atkins diet now. I thought the main reason this thread existed was for exercise support, which then evolved into weight loss, which I have no problem with... However, I've only mentioned the diet I'm following on this thread ONCE. I'm not going to type out why my diet plan is so wonderful, neither do I feel the need to vehemently defend it, but it works for me, so I'm sticking with it. The majority of people join this thread with their diet plan already worked out, so can we please just stick to the support idea of the thread?

If nobody agrees, then I guess I'll go join the Lose Weight thread...

I'll stick my neck out and agree with you here Callisto. I tend to skip over the Atkins posts (sorry about that!) - the only dietary advice which is any use, IMHO, is
    eat less, move more

I do enjoy reading other people's ideas on what works (hints and tips are always good), but please, no more Atkins!

Well - last Monday I weighed myself and I was 12st 0 and 2oz. By Tuesday I'd already GAINED a pound :o:o:o so I'll be glad to be the same as last Monday tomorrow.
Really not kept up with the gym thing and although eaten healthily in a DFW fashion I do tend to eat too much (not DFW fashion).

I should only ever cook what I eat. Sometimes if there's not enough for an extra portion of pasta I'll cook the extra, thinking I'll use it for pasta salad or something the next day but I end up eating it. My will power has totally dissolved. What made the difference last time was hearing 2 good friends say "we've heard it all before", when I said I was determined to lose weight. That made me soooo determined.

Keep it going for the rest of the weekend if you can guys x

Couldn't agree more with you on that one. I tend to skip the Atkins stuff as well - being veggie it's not really appropriate.

I agree with you completely Callisto...I did start the thread originally (although that doesn't mean I "own" it of course!!) as I needed inspiration for exercise that was cheap or free as my exercise regime has gone down the toilet over the last couple of years or so...this last year even more so.

I like the little chats which boost confidence as well and any quick tips about how to feel slimmer/look slimmer and progress reports and stuff but any long winded posts about atkins diet (especially as I am veggie) or any other diet, just get missed out by me.

Kath - the Trinny & Susannah books are fantastic aren't they??! I love them! I have bought some clothes since reading the books which have really helped me out in "problem" areas and I know exactly what to avoid now and not waste money on, in the future. I would recommend their book "What Not To Wear - The Rules" to anyone...young or old, big or small. It's invaluable.

Getting back to exercise...I fell asleep last night thinking I shoudl rejoin my local Jazzercise group. Has anyone ever been to one of these classes? They are good fun and great for all over body toning/shaping and cardio vascular work. Great if you like moving around to music! They also operate a Direct Debit scheme (or they did the last time I went) which works out VERY cheap. You pay something like £14 a month and you can go to as many classes as you want in the month.

I think I may check it out and see if they are still running at my local sports centre as I'm just not doing ANYTHING really and I'm getting sick of myself!!

    Yoooohoooo all

I liked the what do you like about yourself question......I'm generally happy with myself I'd have to say.....top half fine...bottom half needs work! LOL

Also good point about not needing to be skinny to be attractive - very true!! The first thing OH said was to please not go all thin on him and to not lose my.....erm......assets as that didn't do it for him. My main goal here is to be healthy and not to conform to some magazine's idea of fashion.

I'd like to go swimming again as I used to love it - but haven't been in a public pool since I was about 16. Do they have times when you can just swim without being in danger of dozens of kids landing on your head? Apart from walking, can anyone suggest some good exercise I can do....I have one totally knackered knee - an old hockey injury and years of trekking mean anything like running is out of the question....but welldone Lewby :T and good luck with your mission....very impressed!!

Was awful last night - went out for dinner and had healthy grilled salmon and then ruined it by having a luscious, yummy, chocolate and something crepe.....and red wine....lots of. Ooooops....two days before next weigh in.

By the way, I use the WW tracker sheet to record everything I eat and the points....it's made me realise how much I was picking during the day and my eatings habits are definitely improving as a result so I'll keep doing it.

Thanks folks... thought it was just me... :o

Well done Lewby on signing up for the run! I did the Race for Life last year which was 5k, but I walked it, cissy that I am!

Well, I'm going to be brave and weigh myself next time I visit Mum which should be in the next couple of days. I've pretty much got over falling off the wagon from last weekend, just need to try and wean myself off chocolate again...
