I'm down another 2lbs this week. The 4 day illness helped with that though! This week is my first week with no distractions so will have to work hard. Good start today though, I've not eaten all my WW points.

Congrats Minnie, I am hoping to be a size 12 before long :)

  • Thanks for all the congrats, folks!

Nothing lost this week. I've been a bit busy and it took me a few days to recover from last weekend's migraine so I only managed one gym session.

Back on track from tomorrow! Good luck all!
 What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about?

  • Hi Cuddlies,

I'm not doing so well, I appear to be in a downward binge spiral! I think it's the weather, I can't seem to stop snacking and I'm not even particularly hungry when I'm doing it. My boys at work have moved the crisps from my reach and put an apple down in front of me, they're very good. :naughty:

I'm not sure what is triggering it, I don't want to put what I've lost back on. I think I need to sit down with a good, healthy recipe book and plan my week's meals alongside a budget, then only buy in what I need. If I don't buy it, I can't eat it. My biggest problem is toast, I bought a cheap loaf of wholemeal bread (TESCO value 28p) and I keep eating 2 slices of toast on a night with loads of clover and marmalade. It could be boredom, I'm dog/house sitting for my little bro, so I've not got my 'stuff' around me to keep me occupied.

    Any tips?

  • Hi everybody, not been around for a while as seem to have been mega-busy doing nothing!! Sounds as though you are all doing well,
    Congrats Minnie, sixe 12, that's fantastic! :T
Bobble Hat that's a really good diet plan- gazing at someone yummy and it reduces the desire to eat- won't work for me though as there's only me and the cat at home and there's only us girlies in my office at work!
But I am now 9 stone 11lbs... and have several pairs of size 12 trousers that I am wearing are really comfy so guess I can call myself a size 12 too?!?!? :D

Bobble - I'm good with the "if I don't buy it, I can't eat it" thing. Doesn't stop me from wandering around my kitchen 5 times a night looking for something!

    Congrats to you too Stepho!

By 'stuff' I also mean gazing at my yummy housemate and not eating because I want to be thin and gorgeous around him. :o

    Any tips?

It's always good to plan your meals, not necessarily saying what you're gonna have on a given day but to have the ingredients for several meals to hand so that you have some choice and don't feel as though it's been imposed on you.

There's nothing wrong with 2 slices of toast late at night, but try to go a little easier on the clover.

Boredom is definitely something worth addressing. You dog sit for you little bro but can you dog walk for him also, killing 2 birds with one stone?

Always reward yourself with one meal a week where you can eat anything (but only until your satisfied, not until you cannot fit anymore in!) otherwise you go without and feel as though you're missing out which will end up with lots of binges.

Remember, it's a long term nutrition plan you need not a quick diet to get to a goal weight only to revert back to bad eating habits.

OOOH Bobble_hat - I so know where you're coming from. The cold in the last week left me with an overwhelming urge to snack and my weakness means that I put on 3 lbs!!  That quickly. EEEK.

OH is off the overtime and coming home in time for dinner - we've decided to go on a pre-Christmas let's lose a stone campaign together to make it easier so it's out with the munchies and in with healthy meals. Baked fresh salmon with lemon & black pepper and lots of veg tonight. Yum.

I agree with the if I don't buy it, I can't eat it - also doesn't stop me from opening the cupboard in the hope of discovering chocolate though!

Oh and instead of bread late at night - carbs which your body can't break down before you go to sleep - why don't you have a hot drink?

Chances are that a lot of this is water weight so most of it will probably come back off next week. A 3lbs gain would equate to an extra 10,500 calories being consumed and thats a lot of snacking.

It's a myth that eating certain foods late at night can harm weight loss (or even cause weight gain). As long as the calories in < calories out you will lose weight.

However simply looking at calories wont mean being healthy, you have to look at the calories in and make sure that the proper nutrients are consumed within that quota.

Thanks JohnInDebt. I'm walking the dog too, we have two walks a day, the evening walk is always over an hour, I'm walking just under 3 miles. The walking is making me more peckish in the evenings I think. So maybe I'm being a bit harsh on myself. I think I'm panicking because I've stopped cycling for the winter because my route harbours undesirables and is not nice in the dark.

The cycling was really helping with the weight loss. I've taken up running with a club though and when I'm feeling more proficient I'm going to go twice a week, plus I'm going to swim once a week too.

Well done Luckystepho!! Size 12! I'm very excited that I may see a 9 on the scales again soon. My size 12s are still a little tight.

That amount of walking is prefectly fine for cardio, especially if you walk quickly enough to get your heart rate elevated. Some people have the misunderstanding that you need to train like an olympic athlete. Anything that increases your heart rate will be beneficial (yes even that if it lasts long enough - but that could be a whole new thread in itself!)

Cycling through undesirable routes isn't advised for saftey reasons, but you would probably end up cycling quicker! :rotfl:

You need to find something which you enjoy and look forward to doing otherwise it wont be sustainable in the long run. How many people do you know that start a new health kick and sign up to a gym for 12 months only to give up after a few weeks?
