Really? How do you work that out?? I WAS quite bad.....but not THAT bad....was I??? Freebird mentally calculates 2 large packs of Sensations Thai lime & whatever crisps, 5 mini chocolate bars pinched off OH, several choccy mousses and a vat of Bailey's or two.
I know the obvious answer is to get more exercise, but that's tough at the moment as I run my own business and am putting in 16 hour days in the Christmas run-in. That doesn't leave much time for exercise. Although I'm liking your alternative exercise suggestion and will mention it to OH as essential part of our Xmas challenge!!
Talking of which.....less slacking and more work!0 -

1lb of fat = 3,500 calories
The reason I posted the total value of 10,500 is that I don't believe that you snacked that much and most of the weight would probably just be water weight anyway so not to worry too much about it.
The food you consumed would equate to approx 2000 calories (depending on how big the bags of crisps were). Baileys contains 150 calories per shot so even 10 shots would only equate to 1500 calories and if you add that to the food you're looking at a 1lb gain. Having said all that, this would have to be consumed in addition to your normal diet for this to be an increase.Disclaimer: Any spelling mistakes or incorrect grammar is purely coincidental and in no way reflects the intelligence of the author.0 -
Heeelllllloooooooooo everyone.
I would just like to say CONGRATULATIONS to MinnieSpender on achieving size 12 status and also to luckystepho. Wahay!:T
Also, thanks to John for all that useful and uplifting information about how you don't need to train like Kelly Holmes and just exactly how much you need to eat to put on three pounds! That's made me feel a lot better about the last few days let's put it that way.....:oBank Balance: In the black for the moment.

Nothing lost this week. I've been a bit busy and it took me a few days to recover from last weekend's migraine so I only managed one gym session.
Back on track from tomorrow! Good luck all!
Forgot to congrats MinnieSpender, well done
Don't worry about not losing this week, no one loses every week!
Some people even get disappointed about only losing 1lb, how many people would put their hands up to a 29lb weight loss before next summer? That would mean just 1lb loss per week right up until the end of May. It doesn't seem so bad when you put it like that!Disclaimer: Any spelling mistakes or incorrect grammar is purely coincidental and in no way reflects the intelligence of the author.0 -

Just a thought for all of you. Yes, I am a new-found size 12 but the scales say I weigh 11 stone - and I'm only 5'4".
As regulars will know, I've achieved my new size by weight-training. So while I'm more toned now, if I paid too much attention to what the scales say I'd be depressed.
As it is, there is a difference. I look and feel stronger than ever and I'm really happy with what I've achieved.
Here's the REALLY good bit. I've done it in exactly three months.
I hope that inspires you all. I've still got a way to go, but I'm proof that it is achievable.
So don't watch the scales too closely - go by the compliments you get and how your clothes feel.
We can do it! :T:eek: What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about? :eek:Official "Bring back Mark and Lard NOW! or else (please)" Member 160 -

Ooh... well done to Minnie and everyone else :T
I too have some progress to report
I have been tidying up a load of stuff and came across a box of clothes that I'd packed up at easter (when I was getting ready to move) that didn't fit me at the time... but I kept them as motivation.
Well... I tried them all on and have a big pile of clothes that now fit me again :j - new clothes well sort of and cheaper than going shopping!5 pairs of trousers 2 only just fit but they'll get looser, I'm determined! and a few tops :j
There's still 2 pairs of trousers and some t-shirts to go, and one of the pairs of trousers I absolutely love (and they're in virtually brand new condition) and every time I get demotivated, I imagine fitting into them and I feel all motivated again! Sad.... but true
:rotfl:
At my heaviest I was 75kg but I now weigh 70kg... not a big loss but its happening gradually and its not going up! I've started the No Diet Diet again now and am feeling great for it. I'm also fitter, that's for sure, from all the swimming etc
Have a good week cuddlies!

I agree, the BMI scale cannot determine how much fat you have because the results are extremely distorted depending on how much muscle you have. Most professional sports people will have a BMI indicating that they're overweight or even obese because of this. You've probably guessed that this is a pet hate of mine
More information can be found here and here.
The best way to monitor body fat is to get a Body Fat Analysis with the local gym, a lot of gyms will provide this facility and you don't always need to be a member. Doing this once a month is more than enough to really assess your progress.
If you lost a pound of fat but gained 2lbs of muscle the scale would show an increase of 1lb which would leave you disappointed, the BMI would also show an increase but the body fat analysis would show that you lost fat and gained muscle (muscle actually burns calories whilst resting!)LookingAhead wrote:Wow John....you're a real inspiration guru....please keep on posting your little nuggets of feel good factor :T :T:beer:
All I'm providing is honest information, too many people expect too much too soon by watching programmes such as "The Biggest Loser" and "Fit Club" where masses of weight are lost in a single week, but this is normally during the early stages where they're losing a lot of water weight.
They also have nutritionists and fitness trainers on hand every hour of every day. The 'normal' person doesn't have these luxuries.
Set a realistic target and aim for it.Disclaimer: Any spelling mistakes or incorrect grammar is purely coincidental and in no way reflects the intelligence of the author.0
