All I'm providing is honest information, too many people expect too much too soon by watching programmes such as "The Biggest Loser" and "Fit Club" where masses of weight are lost in a single week, but this is normally during the early stages where they're losing a lot of water weight.
They also have nutritionists and fitness trainers on hand every hour of every day. The 'normal' person doesn't have these luxuries.
Set a realistic target and aim for it.
Sure thing. Understood...but thanks for posting it anyway...it's stuff a lot of people probably didn't know or remember before.

11lb's is a big loss in anyones books. Congrats
The more fat you lose the harder it will become to lose, so don't be discouraged by any slowdown (or stall) in your weight loss programme.
Weight training is very good for sustained weight loss as it even burns fat whilst resting. Don't worry about putting on loads of muscle 'cos it isn't that easy (I wish!!!) It takes me ages just to put on a couple of pounds and thats with really heavy weights and my eyes almost popping out of my head :rotfl:
For toning up, just stick with higher reps (12 or 14) rather than the 6 or 8 that is traditionally used for building mass.Disclaimer: Any spelling mistakes or incorrect grammar is purely coincidental and in no way reflects the intelligence of the author.0 -
Well done Kathsfich, everybody sounds so positive! MinnieSpender, I bet that you have built up muscle and lost the fat! These height/ weight charts are not the most accurate for folks who exercise a lot.
Difficult time of the year too, less time to exercise, darker nights and lots of FOOD in the shops!! Keep it up everybody- we WILL do it! X0 -
Morning Cuddlies
I decided to weight myself before work this morning, so that I would not be tempted to eat lardy food at tea break. I'm glad I did, I have not lost any weight not even 0.1 kg. I am exactly the same as last week. It's a bit annoying as I've been dog-walking all week and I've run 5miles in one stint too. But I have been bingeing so I guess it all evens out and I should be happy not to have put any on.
My stars this morning were very spookyMSN.com wrote:Stop beating yourself up so much, Bobbly. You set extraordinarily high standards for yourself, and can't bear it when you don't meet them. Take a moment to look objectively at your achievements versus those around you. You have done a lot, and will doubtless go on to even bigger and better accomplishments. Don't fret about the little setbacks that are bound to occur along the way.
I think that that is advice worth taking, and thanks for all of yours too. :T Have a great day."Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it." (Montgomery, L.M.(1908). Anne of Green Gables.)

Hello all...
May I join please??
I have about 3 stone to lose  and a gym membership that I can't canel  till next May, so I may as well put it to use. I haven't been for months becuase I've been really, really depressed and I've only recently started to feel up to facing things again - like my debts and my weight!!!
The thing is, now that I'm going to be shopping at Lidls/Nettos - what do I buy? Me and OH work long hours and I'll be honest, I haven't a clue how to cook even basic stuffso we tend to live on ready meals and pasta.
Can anyone advise some quick and cheap meals? Sorry, I know this has probably been asked a thousand timesFFW: Weight 06/01/07 11 st 6lbs 01/02/09 - 9st 6 lb

I can't offer any advice here but would also like help with this, I'm trying to be vegetarian and I'm not being very creative with menu planning."Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it." (Montgomery, L.M.(1908). Anne of Green Gables.)

If you have gym membership then as you pointed out you might aswell use it.
You don't need to go there every night, you don't even have to be there for hours at a time. Just go there 3 nights a week (if possible) and don't spend more than hour at a time. Long sessions only become boring and energy levels deplete after about 45 minutes anyway.
I never spend longer than an hour in the gym, normally 45 minutes but that just depends on how busy it is in there and how long I have to wait for the machines!Pauper_Princess wrote:The thing is, now that I'm going to be shopping at Lidls/Nettos - what do I buy? There are some good recipes on the MoneySaving Old Style board. They are also quite cheap so they can help you in both areas, saving money & losing weight at the same time!
Good luck :beer:Disclaimer: Any spelling mistakes or incorrect grammar is purely coincidental and in no way reflects the intelligence of the author.0 -
Thanks guys!!
Am looking into slow cookers- am hoping OH's mum might have one we can borrow for now!!! It looks like an easy and cheap way of cooking (and might avoid arguments over who does the cooking at 8pm!!).
I'm trying to get my 2 litres of water (bleugh) today and then go the gym straight from work hopefully, I'm going to see about booking in for a fitness review jobby too (I like having a card to tick off, sad I know!) Plus there's some classes I want to have a look at too

Well done on your loss so far!!!
Thanks, I'm having an 'off' week this week so it's good to hear. It has taken me a while to do, so I'm pleased as I don't really care how long the weight loss takes as long as it stays off. I'd rather do this healthily. The first 7lb I lost took 7 weeks, which is about right for long-term weight loss. :T"Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it." (Montgomery, L.M.(1908).
