Absolutely Lem.......you're 25%+ of the way there......just extend your deadline...actually, there IS no deadline as the long term benefits outweigh the time it takes to reach your goal!!!

    You've done well so far.....keep going!!!:T :T

No! Grrrrrrrrrrrrr! How annoying. Still, I can always haul out my Sexy Beast video for something similar -phnarr!

Now then. Oink just about covers it. In the post-exam and results haze of euphoria (if they exist), I've got really ... well, the word is fat. I daren't get on the scales, but the rolls of flab surrounding my middle tell the story. I can't even get my magic knickers on so there's no hiding it.

I'm still "resting" (working next week again - horror story, mind. Don't want to talk about it...) so that's SIX days to get my backside into gear. If I haven't had a call for work by 11am, I'm going to the gym. Then I'm coming home to do more decluttering in a feng shui attempt to slim down.

    Hell, I'll try anything!

Will report back when I can crowbar myself into elastic pants.

I think Minnie might be the one to ask on this - she seems to know her stuff with exercising. I know it's a trawl, but it might be worth going back a few pages on this thread as there was a discussion on DVDs not so long ago.

Apart from that, you can always do loads of walking and sit-ups and save the £15 to spend on something nice for yourself!

Hi bobbadog - to shift flab, it's cardio all the way. You don't need a video for this. Get your trainers on and walk to work up a sweat. Build up to 30 mins a day if you can.

If it's your tum that's bothering you, well, start with cardio (again - I'm so sorry!). Toning exercises won't help if you can't see the muscle under the flab.

Weight training is also great for boosting your metabolism. It won't give you muscles like Arnie, but it is vital for weight loss. And bones. And tone. And generally being strong looking - which is no bad thing! Krista, a wonderful American woman, has an great website which introduces you to this:

For toning, I'd recommend a Pilates or yoga type DVD. It looks very easy, but that's deceptive and you will feel the difference!

I haven't any experience of Davina's vid, but I've heard good things, and she does look a bit fantastic, even with her baby bump!

Good luck and stick with us!

I've just been for a brisk evening walk! About half an hour's worth. Which is quite something considering I still have a painful lower back & monthly pains that could bring down a rhino.

I also went for a walk at lunch time today and was out & about for about 40 minutes.

I was marching along muttering my mantra:

"Slim thighs...nice bum! Slim thighs...nice bum!"

    Here's hoping........
Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.
    Sainsburys Loan: Cleared July 2010
Credit cards: AMEX Airmiles Card: direct debit set to clear balance monthly

LOL - LookingAhead - so if I see someone marching, albeit a little stiffly, around our local park muttering, I won't call out the men in white but smile in the knowledge that it's a fellow DF&FFW!!! Massive :T to you for the determination!

Talking of being a DF&FFW, I'm just waiting for the phonelines to open to pay off the balance on my remaining 0% deal (due a month earlier than I thought - ooops) and then, with the exception of the mortgage which I'm not counting here, I will be officially DEBT FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
      :j :j :j
I started out with about £13,000 and now there are no loans, no HP, no credit card balances, no overdraft, no £100 or so to anyone. AND I have some tucked away in an ISA. It can be done MSE'ers....oh yes!

That doesn't mean I'm leaving - I love it here and the tips (and support) you get on this site are fantastic.....I'll carry on putting them to good use and start visiting the mortgage boards too to see if I can't pay that off while I'm on a roll!!! :D:D
