Annie.. I've too ditched Coke.. I went from full fat to diet (in Feb) to the Caffine free.. I'm loving Strawberry and Kiwi squash at the moment (and I HATE squash!) it's really hard getting of the habit of buying coke and looking at other STILL drinks! When I fancy a fizzy drink I go for Sainsburys Strawberry and Kiwi that's hardly got any nasty chemicals in! Does help that I don't drink hot drinks but going from 2.5 litres of full fat a day to not even a can aday I think I've done really well! So good luck.. as you say we CAN DO IT!

Blinkin eck - 2.5 litres of full fat Coke a day but when I think about it on bad days I probably drank 1.5 of Diet Coke! I think I used to kid myself but anyway I have gone cold turkey now for 8 days - a small miracle - when I think I have been drinking Coke for decades........ick!

Well done K9cuddles - it really does help the weight and the teeth!! Hee hee!! I guess like you I love fizzy drinks and am trying to just drink fizzy water (I know it is a complete waste of money!) at the moment at least it is healthier!

Onwards and upwards eh K9cuddles :)

Annie that's for sure! I used to drink coke rather then eat.. and when I did it was just comfort food, it's all realisation now days (about time!). I would try fizzy water but I had a bad incident with a glass of it when I was very ill with the flu! Has put me off for life!

I've not gone cold turkey but there are days now that I just don't fancy it, all about control!!! I've nearly lost a stone now.. got loads to go but it's worth it! As for teeth.. everyone comments on how white and nice mine are!! Amazing really... I have had way too many fillings and I'm sure the acid in coke burnt off anything!!

    Hi everyone!
Just found this thread - I normally read the oldstyle board (don't post...just lurk) but happened upon this thread today - managed to read some of the thread but 26 pages is a lot to get through in a oner so I thought I would just jump in with both feet if thats ok?

I am a lot overweight - I weigh 14 stone 10 lbs the last time i checked (on boots scales) and at only 5ft 2 tall - well i am round. :rotfl:

I have tried WW a few times and it did work for me - but this time (after latest baby) it didn't work so I went to the GP back in March and after a few tests I was told I have an underactive thyroid. :(

I am on medication for this (100mcg levothyroxine per day) but still haven't managed to shift any weight yet.

Not only does this thyroid issue make it hard to lose weight it also can make me very tired some days....which doesn't bode well on the exercise front. Good days and bad days....but I am sure that if I lost some weight I would have more good days right?

    Anyway - I have 80lbs to lose. :(

wish me luck folks - gonna need it!

    Take care
    Nikki

Nikki.. my friend at work had a problem with her thyroid she's been overweight since I've known her, but her daughter starting being a rep for WW.. she's stuck to it religious and OMG she looks like a different woman!

I wish you all the will power to stick to the health regime you create!!!

  • Hi guys!

long time no post and all that!

well, i havent completly fallen off the wagon but all weight loss has slowed to snail pace. I've lost total of 3.2Kg which is just over 1/2 stone. I would like to lose about the same again.

looks like there's a few runners on here. i also did a Race for Life 5Km (in about 28 mins). And i have also entered a 10Km cancer research race at harewood house on 17th Sept. scary!!

i've been loosly following the slimming world plan but as of today am going to stick to it like glue! tomato and chickpea risotto for me tonight :p

good luck everyone - keep at it!!

Hi freebird! Wow! Nice to see the thread spring back into action again so quickly! It's like a resurrection plant, so it is!

Slinked back home avoiding the gym tonight (bad Minnie!) but having seen what you lot are up to I could get changed and go for an hour. It's only ten mins away. Go on - make me feel guilty!

(That's me doing the guilty thing by the way....)

I went out for an hours walk today...and I ate an apple! I've been avoiding apples for days now, I don't know why cos I usually love them. So this was a big acheivement for me (lol!).

Also doing housework tonight (oh yes Monday night is cleaning night for me) to burn off a few more extra calories/try and use a few more muscles!)
