    Hi Glam,

    Thanks for that.

I don't know if you read my posts yesterday but DS came home with a letter to say Swine flu was in school and that he was displaying symptoms of it. I phoned my midwife who said I could have Tami flu although i read on the website that it wasnt suitable for pregnant ladies. She advised me to contact my G.P who said that they dont do anything unless temperatures go over 38.4 then and only then do they treat it. OH has now started with symptoms temperatures up but i doubt its THAT high. There seems to be lots of conflicting advice.

With a household of 2 adults and 4 children its going to spread round us all

I did see your posts - if your son has been in contact with a confirmed case and is showing symptoms the likelihood is he has got it.

Most people don't have a thermometer to check temperature, we don't want patients coming to surgery and the docs don't want to go out on house calls (we'd see no other patients with the rate people are phoning) so we are basing it on telephone consultations.

As it's the weekend ring your Out of Hours service (OOH) and they might deal with it better. Tell them about your son, and that your DH has x,y and z symptoms and that whilst you can't check his temp you are pretty sure it's high. Did you say DS was on anti-viral?

They are now giving prophylaxis treatment to people living under the same roof as someone with symptoms if they are high risk (pregnant) so I would ask them for it. The one you need is Relenza.

    from nhs direct site.
Can I take antiviral drugs if I am pregnant?

Yes, on the advice of a doctor. The Department of Health has purchased Relenza, an inhaled antiviral drug that treats flu without reaching the developing fetus. Relenza should not affect your pregnancy or your growing baby.
However, if your doctor or midwifery specialist thinks that a different medicine is needed (for instance, if you have unusually severe flu), you will be given Tamiflu instead.
An expert group reviewed the risk of antiviral treatment in pregnancy, which is extremely small - much smaller than the risk posed by the symptoms of swine flu.
What are the possible side effects of Relenza?

Some people have had wheezing or serious breathing problems when they have used Relenza. Relenza is therefore not recommended for people with asthma or COPD. Other possible side effects include headaches, diarrhoea, nausea and vomiting.
If you take an antiviral and have side effects, see your healthcare professional to check that you are ok. Then report your suspected drug reaction to the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) via their new new online system.

Would be nice if she is trying to engage! Then I can have a VBAC!

Hmm... need to google tips on how to get her to engage and soften my cervix.

Susy, hope the boys get better soon and it's just a little summer cold not swine flu.

Back to the swine flu debate: my boss was confirmed yesterday as defo having it. Since its been more than 7 days since I seen her, can i assume that I'm not going to get it?? No one else in work has had any symtoms which is lucky cos we work long hrs in close proximity(sp) to each other

Back on here again. I can't keep away. Got showered etc then found that dishwasher has leaked all over kitchen floor and is not working right. OH has taken it apart in the garden, but don't think he knows what it is. So that's why we are still at home. Going to make some lunch now (but think I will have to do the flaming dishes first as they are all over the place!).

GISI - I am going to see Singin' In The Rain tonight! I love musicals. We got a Ticketmaster voucher as a wedding present last year and can't agree on music so theatre it is.

Becster - the only thing I can think of is Carters baby clothing ( I think they have it at Sears??) - it's decent priced and really good quality. Best bet is to do some online comparative browsing (taking into account the exchange rate) at stores like Walmart, Sears, Penneys, Mervyns, Macys, places like that, and see if it's a good buy.

During the day, too. It smells like her hairspray and perfume, she had a few smells (:rotfl:) but this is her clean going-out smell.

    So weird.

she might be keeping an eye on you and baby. looking ater you, making sure all is well.

mcflurrys- i presumed that as they were from mcdonalds they would be ok as they would have high standards, proper temp control etc. so i have had a few. but i woouldnt buy from a ice-cream van as you dont know what/how/if everything is cleaned/kept at right temp.

do have a large tub of walls soft scoop but again i presume its walls so would be ok.

You would have shown symptoms by now but if you are worried phone your GP.

(just in case Glad reads it - I'm not giving medial advice in every case I've said to go to GP or OOH)
