I knew I meant to post something - I thought us pg ladies couldn't eat McFlurry's! Something to do with the ice cream not being pasturised or something. I remember in the early stages being on here and someone said not to eat them!

The McDonalds Monopoly thread? (conincidentially, I just read it!) The poster was referring to the McFlurry - you're not supposed to have soft whip ice cream (ie McFlurry) whilst pregnant due to the risk of listeria bacteria as listeria is harmful to the unborn child. Creme Eggs themselves, and other chocolate, are fine :)

Found it - a very old post (march 09) from our very own Elle!

I suppose it depends how anal you are over the 'you should eat this' guidelines. I've had runny eggs and pink steak which are also listeria risks.

Glam, i think i read somewhere that there was a risk of listeria from soft ice cream, but i still eat it. I was in the q for a mr whippy 99 and the pregnant lady in front of me was buying a cone for her other kid and moaning that she couldn't have one, smoking away on a cig the whole time. Nice.

Edit: Cross posted with you there!

I read that too glam, which is a shame, cos I wanted a creme egg one at easter and had to resist.

Think also it was because the ice cream is so soft, i.e. not thoroughly frozen, same goes for a Mr Whippy 99 I guess.

Why is it I only crave the things I can't have??? Pimms, 99's, liver, peanuts, brie. Cigarettes... but that's getting easier after 6 months of not having one.

There is a higher chance of listeria with whippy ice-cream. Not sure of the facts beind it though. I thought it was to do with the way the machines are cleaned with whippy ice-cream rather than the ice-cream, but probably completely wrong! I haven't had any anyway (but have eaten blue cheese once/sushi etc!).

csh - where u been?! Everythning OK with you?

Harley - did you finish your letter?

People like that make me laugh - puffing away and moaning about ice-cream. I'd rather have the McFlurry than a fag anyday - and I did used to smoke years back.

I haven't eaten anything else that were not supposed to in 6months so far so Im not bothered about 1 mcflurry.

I agree about Nicola in Emmerdale and Maria in Corrie! And how annoyingly perfect does Maria look just days after giving birth in a !!!!!!! shed on a beach!!!
