Does anyone know when you would usually do the birth plan? No-one's discussed it with me yet... I'm having community care for ante-natal appts but electing to give birth at a midwife-led unit (which is in a different PCT). The MLBU don't want to see me til the day so am assuming I should be formulating my birth plan with the community midwife? I've got my 28 wk appt this week btw.

No one mentioned a birth plan to me at all, but I asked the midwife at my 36 week appointment, she pointed out the bit in my birth notes that has a small section on it. I then wrote my own I then got her to check it over at my last appointment (38 weeks). I should have thought it ideally should have been done before that though, but I had a change of midwife at 28 weeks, so that could be why it was missed.

I bled on and off right through with DS2. Was put down to cervical bleeding and never did any harm. Usually happened if I had done too much (like hoover ). This time I have only had one strange discharge incident that didn't worry me and I didn't bother going up to have it checked out, I think it was just some fibery bits of the plug coming away.

I feel sicker than ever now and the headache is worse so I'm not amused. Got to go get DS1, milk and post off a DSlite for repair. Then home, tablets and lie back down on the sofa while the kids run riot.

Take it easy Tia. X :A And you Jha. X

Thanks for the above Skinty, I want to co-sleep (baby in bed) but we only have a double bed so don't think it's big enough and this might be the ideal solution for us. They are quite expensive but some of them look at though they would do as cots for a year or so? Do they all attach to the bed?

I ordered the 'three in a bed book' but it wont arrive until next week, hopefully it will provide some advice on options as well :)

They don;t all actually attach to the bed - they often just butt up to it. Ours does that, and because we have a pine bed there is a gap, so we are going to pull the cot mattress over to fill the gap, then plug the gap at the back with rolled-up towels. I have asked for advice on this and been told it will be fine.

We only have a double bed too, which is why full co-sleeping wasn't an option as there isn;t the room IMO to do it safely (although I'm sure there are people who do and it's fine, we just felt uncomfortable about it).

The large ones are designed to be cots so they do have a longer life - one manufacturer told me up to three years although it depends how big your baby is.

It's a shame they are so expensive really, but if you want to co-sleep then they are brilliant.
Skinty - thanks for the birth plan list -

I am only doing mine now ML. I'm 35 weeks and am literally just writing it up today. My MW asked me at my last appointment to do it so we can talk about it at the next appointment, and then a copy will go in my notes. So you have plenty of time.

As it will be in your notes the unit will be able to read it when you get there, but you could always phone them and ask if you can email it over in advance and see what they say.

But you will definitely need to discuss it with your community MW first, from what my MW has told me. Maybe ask her at this appointment then write it afterwards? No-one at my antenatal classes has written one yet so I think it is something you can do quite late on.

ETa - the last app was my home birth booking and we did cover stuff like third stage, vitamin K, cord cutting etc., but my actual plan is rather more detailed and covers things like if I need to transfer, what happens if baby turnes head down for my scan next week then turns again and is breech at home, that kind of thing, plus what I'd like if at all possible should I have a C-section as an emergency, in terms of skin-to-skin, etc., so I've tried to cover everything in advance as I will be in no position to make decisions should something go wrong.

I got mine in the post after I had seen my GP to inform them I was pregnant. Around 12 weeks. However I though it only covered prescriptions and dental treatment - not eyes. Might have to check that one as I wear glasses as well!

I don't think it covers eyes but let me know if it does.

Debate - Nicki and Skintchick. I do agree with Nicki on this one, Skinty sometimes your posts do sound like you are judging people on the decisions they make but I know that you are only trying to ensure everyone is informed of the different choices. I am very thick skinned but I know that some people don't want to hear about how they didn't HAVE to have a c section and TBH skinty sometimes too much information is bad for you!

I shall be doing whatever is in the best interests of myself and my baby whether that's drugs, c-section, whatever. Personally, if I start reading a post which I think I might not like I don't read it.

    Simples :)

BTW - I had a post deleted for just saying 'you should only take paracetamol in pregnancy, but always contact your pharmacist befor eyou take anything'

Well, in work and was really down but at 10.05am got a phone call - why wasn't I upstairs attending a very important meeting?:o
I didn't have it in diary but it was nice cos it's juts took up 5 hours of the day and now I need to type the minutes up (I always seem to get that job!).

Feeling a bit better esp. knowing I can home in less than an hour :j
Apparently, OH says the other job he's trying to create is being discussed today but I won't hold my breath cos it's being going on for over 3 weeks! Sad that a director can't make a decision after this long isn't it?!

lookit you - gettin all pampered. Will wait and see what OH has managed to get done when I get home - not expecting a lot!

Ok maybe my fault not sure if it covers eyes but i know theres a form (hc1) which covers eye tests and Dental and scripts if you are on a low income. As well so i thought they would cover all three and i am sure but not 100% i heard somewhere eye tests were covered. Will check it out. Thank you x

Hello ladies! Just to update, am still waiting for the baby to come out.

After third sweep yesterday, had a bloody show and a lot of mucus all evening and night (a LOT, I mean wiping it up each time I went to the loo used up 2 rolls of paper in one night!), along with mild and irregular contractions through the evening.

Today am getting irregular tightenings again and backache most of the day, am booked in for assessment for induction at 4.30pm today, got to call them at 4pm to check it's ok to go in or if they are busy they will tell me to wait until a bit later. From what midwife has said, all they will need to do is break the membrane so the waters go, so not sure if they will do that today or tomorrow (induction is actually booked for tomorrow sometime, but have to go in tonight for assessment and observation).

It's been a weird feeling waiting to go into hospital all day, went for a long walk and out for lunch with DH to pass the time, and I'm getting all agitated and snappy now while I wait. Also had a big cry this morning about needing to be induced, I feel like I'm being cheated out of that realising you're starting labour moment, but think that was just hormones and worry!

I'm 27 weeks tomorrow and it does go quick but not quick enough for my liking - I know I shouldn't wish the pregnancy away but I want my babe in arms and want my body back!!

Got kicked the entire meeting earlier - 12 managers round a table with me wincing every few minutes as he shifted or kicked me in the ribs!
