Hi
Just wondering if anyone can help ? Because i work in a NHS Dental surgery i know pregnant women get a white maternity exemption cards so they get free dental, treatment and free eye tests and scripts. So i was just wondering how i get one and how far along do i have to be before i get one as i am due a eye test soon. Thank you :rolleyes:Darling son born 10/12/09 hopefully the 1st of many :j0 -
Thanks skintchick and molly!
I'm very much excited about the scan in 2 weeks to confirm everything is ok but am taking comfort in the slight onset of MS over the weekend and the painful boobs as signs that everything is in fact as it should be!!
I've been told by the dr that shellfish (including prawns) are fine to eat, but just to avoid any uncooked shellfish (which I don't eat anyway). Has anyone heard diffrent to this?0 -

I can only say that on the days i did feel rough they helped me and as i have severe vomiting phobia they have been a godsend - i am not even sure how i am going to cope with baby posseting yet:o0 -

I looked at one of those and you can get it over here http://www.armsreach.co.uk/products.asp and http://www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/productdisplayA_42+1279_10751_-1_14562_50033_10001_14562 but we decided to go with something less plastic in the end as we saw it at the Baby Show and it was all plastic with a fabric cover, which while great if you want to take it other places (it folds up into a bag) didn;t feel very special to us.
We were getting this http://www.boots.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10052&catalogId=11051&productId=120225
but at the time it was out of stock so we got the Cosatto Olivia instead http://www.dooyoo.co.uk/nursery-furniture/cosatto-olivia-bedside-cot/ which is virtually the same, and I managed to get a display model for £130.
I also considered this http://www.expressyourselfmums.co.uk/details2.asp/ProductID/237/sid/18/bedside-crib.htm but as it is a crib the baby will grow out of it fairly quickly.
And this http://www.bednest.com/index.php but we didn;t like the design plus again it is small.
There was also this one http://www.babyworld.co.uk/information/products/product_tests/cot/cot_full.asp#brio
which looked nice.
Hope that helps.
.
Thanks for the above Skinty, I want to co-sleep (baby in bed) but we only have a double bed so don't think it's big enough and this might be the ideal solution for us. They are quite expensive but some of them look at though they would do as cots for a year or so? Do they all attach to the bed?
I ordered the 'three in a bed book' but it wont arrive until next week, hopefully it will provide some advice on options as wellMum to DD born Oct 2009

Skinty - thanks for the birth plan list -
Does anyone know when you would usually do the birth plan? No-one's discussed it with me yet... I'm having community care for ante-natal appts but electing to give birth at a midwife-led unit (which is in a different PCT). The MLBU don't want to see me til the day so am assuming I should be formulating my birth plan with the community midwife? I've got my 28 wk appt this week btw.MFW Challenge member no. 96 - on hold!

I got mine in the post after I had seen my GP to inform them I was pregnant. Around 12 weeks. However I though it only covered prescriptions and dental treatment - not eyes. Might have to check that one as I wear glasses as well!Mum to DD born Oct 2009

Sarah_Joanne wrote: »Hi everyone! I found out last week I am pregnant after 15 months of trying! I'm currently 5 weeks although we did think I may be 12 weeks already after speaking to the dr last week 9very irregular cycles and I haven't had a period since March) however following a scan yesterday it shows I'm just 5 weeks!!
Had to have the scan as had some bleeding whoich came, twice, but went away again. Nobosy has yet explained what thi smight have been though. Does anyone else have any experience of this? I have to go for another scan in 2 weeks so they can check the heartbeat etc as at 5 weeks they can't be sure if they've actually heard it yet!
Thanks!
Sarah
SarahJoanne i had bleeding at around 4 weeks and 8 weeks the first was spotting so i wasnt worried the seccond was more - a large streak on tissue when i wiped and 1 clot the size of a 50p piece which went on for 1 hour and then i spotted for 4 days after. the baby in my case is ok and i didnt receive an exact explination but i was told the first episode was possibly implantation bleeding and the seccond could have been a number of things. My neighbour lent me a book called the pregnancy bible which has a section on bleeding during pregnancy which you might find reassuring. I have also been told that a 1/4 of all pregnant women suffer some bleeding but i dont know how accurate that is.0 -
jha, possetting isn't like sick... It's usualy just an overflow of milk... And I'm not a good person round people throwing up... But when it's your own children it doesn't seem to have the same effect
Congratulations JvicA very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Welcome Sarah and Storm and someone else who joined at the weekend - sorry can't remember.
I've had loads of random bleeding, most undiagnosed and not at times when I would have expected a period although I hear that is quite common. My one diagnosis was cervical erosion which is apparently nothing to worry about but there are so many causes of bleeding that you should always get it checked out just in case it is something serious.Mum to DD born Oct 2009
