I dont think the blood test is for actual downs testing it tests for something else which then gives them a percentage of how likely you are to have a downs child you should then be given the choice as to weather you want the other types of test which actually do test directly for downes syndrome. Again i cant remember the name of the test though sorry:jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0

YAY!!I don't have to have the GTT - Lucozade Test results were normal so no more blood tests (I hope!!) so hopefully no more fainting :T

Morning ladies - found out this morning that one of the mums at school had her baby in the early hours. She was due 2 weeks after me!!
Got hosp at 11.30. Fell out with DH last night. We have his younger daughter (14) to stay over every other Saturday and this Saturday is her weekend here. I told him he'd have to prepare her mum to come and fetch her if I went into labour on Saturday night. He seems to think she'll be fine here on her own. I don't. Our DS (6) would either be going next door or to my mums. I have spoken to him again about it this morning and he said don't worry yourself about it. I said but we don't know how long we're going to be in there - what if I need an emergency caesarean?! And he said 'well I wouldn't be there then anyway'! Don't think he realises he can be in the room too. Am I being unreasonable? I just think it would be far easier for her to go back to her mums - I wouldn't be constantly thinking is everything ok?Sealed Pot Challenge #817 £50 banked0 -
I suppose at 14 she would be ok during the day but i wouldnt fancy leaving her over night on her own. I agree with you the mother needs to be made aware that she could get a call in the early hrs to come and pick her up you dont need the extra stress of worrying about the poor girl whilst your in labour you will have enough to worry about.:jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0

Sorry, hope that didn't sound like a gloat to those who have to have the GTT... I was just particularly keen to avoid it after collapsing the last 2 times I've had blood takenMFW Challenge member no. 96 - on hold!

Glam - been trying to find out about yr new job but am not v good on searching the forums... congrats anyway! Could you bear to tell the story again?! Was it an internal move?
I've finally been taking some advice from some female friends who are as committed to their careers as I am (this is a way of saying they are as tough minded as we are glam!) and am getting the strong signal that 2-3 weeks before the birth is worth thinking about for ML especially in v hot weather. So am starting to rethink my plans and looking to go near the end of August. We've just appointed someone who should be really good as cover so that'll make it easier...
In a funny way, I kind of feel relieved, like the pressure is off a bit now I've finally accepted that it isn't 'business as usual' and that it's OK to take a bit of time off to rest before Cub arrives. Still need to discuss with boss but it was my own stubborness that was the main obstacle!MFW Challenge member no. 96 - on hold!

I'm same as you, saying im fine all the time and have booked mat leave to start on my due date, but bosses know how stuborn/silly I am so have left me to it. I know my limits if I get too tired/unable to work I will. Its not an illness afterall...
