This morning when I logged on to Amazon I noticed that they are giving £25 of Amazon vouchers if you apply (and are accepted) for their Mastercard (supplied by Halifax). You must apply for the card before Christmas and you must spend on the card before 31 March 2007 to qualify for the vouchers. :money:

Amazon tend to give this offer during the Christmas season. I had similar offer and managed to get a card a year ago from Amazon and enjoyed my voucher ordering stuff from amazon and the remaing balance used for stoozing.:D

They must want you as a customer more than they want me!

"Apply now and receive a £15 Amazon Gift Certificate when you make your first purchase."

Edit: Oh, OK I see the "extra £10 gift certificate" bit.

Waiting til it arrives but what do I do then. Just pay anything small with it. say £1.50 then go to Halifax and pay it off in full. Wait for voucher and then close account?

This is my first ever credit card actually, I hope it does not charge me for anything.
Save saynoto0870.com in your favorites, and stop giving companies more £££ dialling 0870 numbers when you can dial freephones or cheaper alternatives
call your credit card company, tell them that you want to leave, 99% of the time theyll lower your APR%
Remember when that Bank Manager or Salesperson smiles at you, all he sees is £ notes. Dont forget the motto, "the wider their grin, the more debt your in"
  • Spot on!

As long as you repay the balance in full by the due date on the statement you won't get charged anything. As you'll only be spending a tiny amount, just pay it as soon as you get the statement.

    Don't spend that much!
There is no minimum spend(always check the T&C's) so a s long as you use the card to pay for your purchase you will be fine.
I used MBNA card and bought a packet of 99p pencils and got his and her diving watches for free.(two years ago)They are excellant for 99p.
It is up to you if you cancel the card afterwards.
As you say it is your first card you may want to keep it for a while to improve your credit score.
As long as you use the card to your advantage and not the card companies you will be fine.Always aim to pay no interest and pay the card off in full each month to avoid the interest charges .Also check the T&C's as you will probably have to keep the account open for 60 days before recieving your voucher, just check if you close it too soon you won't get your £25.
  • Jinkssick - what is the voucher for? For use on Amazon site?

    Thanks

There's no need to be anti-cc! There are lots of money and benefits to be had from using CCs wisely (i.e., the opposite of how the CC companies want you to use them).

Diligently follow the advice given earlier: you'll never pay a penny to them, and can earn a lot of free stuff.
