    I'm really proud of myself:D

Have just made a phonecall to someone I havent spoke too in 6 years and it went well. Apologised for not keeping in touch but gave my reasons which they knew and carried on where we left off...LOL We have been invited to theirs whenever we want (they live 60 miles away)-so may do that in the next holidays:confused: Just wanted to share this with you as it was a big step for me and am really chuffed that I am facing some of my skeletons:p

OH is playing on the Xbox and he wants me to play golf with him. He likes me playing now as my hands arent as good as they used to be and he now thrashes me and he dont sulk for hours after:rolleyes: typical bloke!!!

    Anyway, got to go.

    Hello everyone!

I am totally rejoicing as it's Saturday and I don't have to go to the hellhole today. I'm feeling heaps better now - had a glass of wine last night (OK so it was a half pint glass!!!) and it zonked me out. Woke up around 7.00 am, rolled over and went back to the land of nod. Affectionate kitten Dylan woke me up about 11.00 am wanting cuddles - he is so cute, he snuggles up beside me then stretches full out, gently paddles my face, gives me rubs and totally insists that I hug and cuddle him. He did that for nearly an hour so we were both loved up! Ahhh who needs a man when you've got a such an adorable kitty? Unfortunately he doesn't know how to negotiate the vacuum cleaner so it will be my job to remove the cat hairs from the bed...still better than smelly socks though!

Today I need to go to the recycling place to get rid of some bottles, tin cans, paper and what have you. Then I fancy nipping into town to do a grand tour of the charity shops - I've been inspired by the charity shop thread to try a bit harder to look for hidden gems. I take a larger size so it's quite hard, but I can still keep my eyes peeled for good books, bags, picture frames and such like.

Later I need to go for a nice long walk - there are some lovely forest or country parks nearby so I am spoilt for choice, and they are free in. I haven't been for ages due to either the early evenings or awful weather or both but really must make more of an effort.

Guess I should squeeze in load or two of washing and a bit of tidying up here and there. Don't know what I am going to have for supper (have just had breakfast), probably potato wedges and I might have a go at making fishcakes using mackerel, or perhaps some tinned salmon though I have to buy that. I might make some more scones tonight but shove them in the freezer as soon as they are cold otherwise they sort of fall down my neck while I am not paying attention:o.

Bargain Rzl - I loved your life lessons. I have paid particular attention to the red chilli one, I guess that brought v.fat tears to your eyes.
    Lessons learnt this morning:
    1. If you must stab yourself in the palm of your hand with a kitchen knife, it's best not to do it when the knife's just been de-seeding red chillis.
    2. It's not a good idea to open a tin of tomatoes while wearing a white dressing gown.

I hope your hand is OK - your dressing gown will wash, but you need your hand!

Frugglewump, have a fab birthday. Penny Pincher, I'm glad to see you back - you have still got your spirit which is fabulous (though your consultants might be nursing various fleas in their ears). Chickadee, congrats to you and your OH on your life-changing events, it's inspiring to read that things do change for the better with a bit of patience and persuasion.

Best wishes to everyone, have a fab weekend.

Did you see in the local paper that we are having a farmers market each month selling fruit, veg, meat, dairy and fish?

It's fine thanks Snowy - it was a very shallow nick with the point of the knife - didn't even draw blood, but DID get down to the lower layers of skin with the chilli juices

Good to hear you're feeling more positive today :)

    Hi all again

Just had a quick flick through yesterday's posts :D MATH - what are you like!! :rotfl: Well, you wouldn't have seen me demonstrating outside the school where my mate Condi was - I was the one driving past thinking it was very lovely of the nice policemen to have stopped all the parking on the road so I didn't have to negotiate my way past them all. And yes - I was on my wasy to Lidl :D:D

However, went into Blackburn this morning - to be held up and have main car parks closed by Condi again (she could have told me) I did look at the demonstrators - as it was hammering down and I was standing browsing the make up in Debenhams ;) Had a mooch up there when it was fine but I think there were as many 'slightly interested' passers by as protestors. Anyway - DS1 is now the proud owner of a new coat (1/2 price) and school shoes (sale). Wonder how long they will last?

Have just put a load of washing in the TD  :D Only use it about twice a month (excluding our bedding) so I must be saving a fortune on the leccy now. Good job, given what I have to replace in the kitchen :( Off to fire up BM and then label and pack DS1's stuff for camp.

I'll just finish me :coffee: and catch up with some of these posts I've been missing

    Hi everyone

Not posted on this thread before

Managed to avoid getting fooled, stayed in bed till 12pm - bad night sleep

Sent hubby out shopping - am seriously trying to reduce my food bill by making do and not buying till I need it.

This site is awesome and love looking at and contributing to it when I can.

    Made a lovely porrige with

    Value oats
Pineapple juice bought on a deal - this hydrates and sweetens it
sprinkle of chopped hazelnuts - a packet lasts for ages
Low fat Greek yoghurt to top

We will have jacket spuds with grated cheese, grating makes the cheese go much further, for my dinner.

Drinking loads of coffee to keep awake
    An average day in my life:hello: :eek::mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T :o :rotfl: :rotfl: :p :eek::mad: :beer:

    Hello everyone,

I was up early this morning to go into town. Got OH a coat he has been eyeing up for £25 (reduced from £35).Had a quick look in the next sale, but nothing caught my fancy. Then proceeded to look in local charity shops and got following bargins, two Pat Conroy books in next to new condition for £1.50 and a lovely purple crochet top from Bay trading for 50p.

On my way home, popped into Blockbusters, and got two films out for £2.75, due to discount voucher. The went to Lidls and got some salad, and a lovely rosemary bush for £1.89. Did salad for lunch, and I'm now having a break on here before doing more housework, and attempting to use a dye in the washing machine.

    Have a good day all...Powie

    Hello everyone!
Today I have changed beds, done 2 loads of washing (1 more to do) loaded up the airer in the kitchen, but some is going in the TD due to the funny weather here. It looks nice and sunny but keeps raining for a few minutes here and there. I've been to Aldi and unpacked the shopping and had my lunch.
Its very quiet here because OH and DD's are off at an Easter Fayre. OH is presiding (sp?) over a stall of some sort and DD's are running riot with their friends. Im enjoying the peace and quiet for a change, they will be back soon so it will all end. I may have chance to snuck in a nice coffee whilst it is still quiet - now should I have Aldis "baileysulike" in it or Aldis coffee syrup I treated myself to today (vanilla flavour) may have to make that two coffees I think........
Have had a busy week making Easter bonnets and decorated eggs with DD's, youngest daughter has insisted her teddy has a matching Easter bonnet too. Roped OH in to help in the end. Bought myself some plain t-shirts for work, as have lots of Spring/summer skirts but absolutely no tops. They are all too long to be worn with skirts so I have to get the machine out later to alter them all. It would be lovely to just buy something and be able to wear it straight away. I blame my strange shape on my parents.
I haven't posted for ages but am still Old Styling away here as much as possible, and reading the threads daily.

PP Im glad you are home and hope that the new meds do some good. Mr PP sounds lovely, I enjoyed reading his posts, please get him to keep contributing!

SnowyOwl I felt for you with the horrible work thing. My awful boss has been on leave but was back in last week, as soon as I saw her sitting there my heart sunk into my boots. Sat at my desk and felt like bursting into tears. Went for a tea break with my mates and told myself to pull it together and remember you are a grown up. Why do these horrible people affect us so much? I hope things improve for you soon. I'm going to try the "imagining them sat on the loo" thing. It may cheer me up, you never know. :D

BargainRzl I really enjoy reading your posts, I hope the hand is OK now!

Has anyone heard from Curry Queen recently?

Right well, if I dont get up and moving OH will arrive back and accuse me of sitting in front of MSE all morning and that will never do. :p Best put the kettle on, and go and put out my recycling/composting etc.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend all.

    Afternoon everyone.

Nice to see some jovialness and good news on the thread.~Plenty of shopping bargains too.

I've managed to take the plastic recycling to the bank, go to the ASDA cafe for a fry up with DH, and get the shopping done. We spent £80 which at first glance i didn't know why, but when i looked at cat food for the next two weeks and litter, a bag of salmon fillets, multi pack of loo rolls, and £15 worth of Easter eggs eeek, i soon saw where it had gone. The food bill ahouldn't be bad next week, but instead we'll be spending nearly £40 to send the kitties to prison while we visit DHs parents. Much as i love my boys, i am really looking forward to the long weekend break.

Now DH is watching GP, and i am trying to kill time on here. I feel really sleepy today, so i am going to chill out. Might go and wash my hair and have a nice bath so i will feel glamorous for tomorrows christening.

My plan is to do a bit more internet stuff and check on the savings/budget, and i am going to have some fruit or something instead of lunch as i am not mega hungry but won't make it to dinner time. Then for dinner, tuna steak with roasted sweet potatoes and courgettes, so the bump won't become addicted to fast food. Although pudding tells me the golden syrup sponge last night was very tasty and could be had again.

Enjoy the rest of the day. Joannas mum hope you enjoy the cocktail party. Frugglewump - hope the birthday celebrations are going well.

    Michelle, x
