Never knew that, still, they can obviously read so why not realise that me saying I don't accept CC/DC means I don't!

Ok, its against ebay's rules but thats a different matter!!!

I always new ebay were scum, that is a deliberate ploy so that people have to accept CC/DC which means that ebay can then charge people to receive money!!

Well i'll not be accepting paypal on any of my auctions any more!!!

If you don't tick the 'I accept paypal' box on your listings then you can put in the body of your text that you can take direct paypal balance transfers. You will need to manually upgrade your invoices if they choose to do that and your listings will unfortunately no longer show up in lists if a buyers browses auctions that take paypal only.

Let them send a cheque, cash it and then don't send the item until they pay the remainder of what they owe you.

They knew the costs up front and should pay them. I don't see why you should be out of pocket!

I know mate, it takes the pi55!

They do it deliberately, they take your auctions fees and then they make it so you have to take paypal or lose out by not selling / getting less for the item!!

I need a rant!!!!

I had an 2 auctions finish yesterday, both won by someone in the USA. I clearly state that its paypal only from overseas. The combined weight comes in at 4 kilos and using Royalmails guide thats £40 airmail and £21 surface mail. ( it would have been £15 to the UK ) One auction said £16 to the USA and one just said email me for details ( cos it was so heavy )

Anyway i sent them an invoice and ive just had a reply that they are sending a cheque

And that my postage costs are stupid and they will pay no more than $3.99 for post. Yes $ not £

Ive replied and explained the weight, given them the links to Royalmail, and said if they know of a carrier local to me and easy to use im happy to use them instead. Ive tried to be as nice as possible but its not easy. Im only selling household ''junk'' where im trying to clear out and dont really want to be setting up accounts or things with DHL and the like.

AAAAARRRRGGGHH i can feel my first neg coming on!! But i do feel better now, thanks. And if anyone knows of a cheap carrier to the USA please let me know.

I've had similar dealings with people from that part of the world - them seem the least able to understand the problem - Ive even had one ask which State I Was in - that took a few emails to get them to understand that I was a different continent to them

But I would have email the buyer the same as you - always include the Royal Mail Link, and also a Dollar / pound exchange rate link if you can - and reiterate a lot that $1 does not equal £1

    Good luck with them
See the stars they’re shining bright
    Everything’s alright tonight

You know the cheque will be in dollars don't you? When you buy something from overseas (from the buyers perspective) ebay shows it in dollars at the current exchange rate, so there is no way this buyer, who seems to be definitely TSFE, will be willing to get a cheque cut in pounds, even if it occurred to them, which it won't.

  • Ummm i hadnt thought about a cheque being in dollars!!!

It doesnt matter, im not taking a cheque, my auction clearly states oversea bidders paypal only!!! They obviously didnt bother to read any of the details. Looking at some of the replies it looks like others have the same issues with buyers from overseas!

I dont care about getting a neg, my feedback can take it. I was worried before i started reading this board, but it seems everybody reads the comments looks at the situation and if the seller has handled the situation reasonably, its ok.

Im just waiting for them to reply now!!! :rotfl:

We've had all the muppets lately. We had an auction due to end Saturday, the bidding was upto £54.50 we were vey happy.:j

The newbie who was the highest bidder emailed with a couple of hours to go and asked to have his bid removed becasue he didn't want it any more. He calimed someone had sold him the item for £10.00. (not convinced on this) So after consideration hubby decided to do this. BIG MISTAKE:mad: We ended up losing out over £10.00. Our fault for being nice but the learning curve is we won't do that again:rolleyes:

Anyway hubby sent the bidder an email saying that he hoped that he had bought one of our competitors items and he will then see how inferiour it is and blocked him from bidding again. It turns out the bidders maximum bid was £100. I reckon he got cold feet.

On the same day another item was bid for and won. It stated on the auction that it was a UK only sale. The winner emailed and asked if we would send to Malaysia  Hubby said yes but it would have to be by trackable method and posted only to a confirmed paypal address. Total cost for item and post £66 ish (6.50 for the item plus courior carriage at £56ish). The guy has needless to say decided he doesn't want it so we shall be starting NPB proceedings and making sure they guy gets a strike on his account. Yet another newbie

Finally, we have another couple of auctions on at the moment 1 red and 1 blue. We had an "ask seller a question" come through..."Hi, do you do these in blue? If I win the auction can I choose which colour I can have?"

The question came through on the blue unit auction (if that makes sense?) Blinking thicko's the lot of them

Just think though had you not removed his bid and he had won the item he wouldn't have paid anyway. Not only would you have the bother of NPB'ing him you would have had to relist and might not have got as much the second time around.

It's possible to cash cheques in dollars via auctionchex... they charge a fee of 50p. It's what I plan to do with the paltry cheque that is currently winging its very slow way to me (possibly swimming?) from a US buyer.

However, in the case of the US buyer who a) refuses to pay by your stipulated method and b) dictates what he's prepared to pay in postage, I'd tell him where to go.
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j
