I'm so sorry for everyone who's had a horrid time at the Post Office.

The local one near my daughter's school is a nightmare. They only use stamps and not postal stickers - and stamps don't stick to my mailing sacks very well. (which is all my fault obviously - not their's for refusing to learn how to do their job.)

They can't handle Recorded or receipts at all...

They are very unhappy if I have more than two parcels and everytime someone else comes in they stop serving me and serve them instead.

And make me wait while we hear all about Beryl's Op. During which very lengthy and unbelieveably repetitive conversation it becomes increasingly clear that "Beryl" - is a bloody cat.

Complaining - to them, and head office - has proved fruitless so now I walk into town instead.

The ladies at the main PO are all lovely little treasures and know their stuff.

There's just one bloke who's rude, whingey, useless and lazy - and wouldn't you know it? He's the manager! :rotfl:

As soon as he starts complaining and being rude I hold my hand up imperiously and ask his name. (Pencil poised over notebook.) He always refuses to give it to me - so I snap him with my camera phone and send a printout of the pic with my complaint. It makes him crazy - but he's still there. I just got hold of a dictaphone so I'll try taping him next time.

Some of my neighbours are filmmakers - if I could guarantee being served by him I'd bribe them with cakes to come and be my full camera crew when he served me... That would be very cooooool! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

My local one (at the end of my road about 100m!) is pretty good. Used to be a bit grumpy at times, but now the shop it is in is owned by the Co-op, and they seem much more helpful along with the main shop staff.
Only real gripe is that their serving hatch is quite small, and they won't accept larger parcels.

I used to use smart stamp so just needed to drop off the Parcells.
The local PO staff/management insisted on checking each one and made it quite clear I was a pain in the bum.

My local PO are brilliant, but I do work with them and only take lots of parcels when there are 2 at the counter, they work together and are brilliant. If I dare to go to the other PO where the old fella is he goes into meltdown so it is not worth the hassle. Do not get me started on the 3rd PO that I could use father & daughter team, they even have a huge sign up asking people not to "TUT TUT" if there is a wait while they are queing to be served.

Both P.O.s I regularly use have selective deafness when I say 'Second-class, please'. They must have some neuro-auditory blip because it always turns into first class on the parcels. I can say it loud and clear five times and still...

It's actually pretty rude and at this point not accidental in any way.

I don't know what the problem is. My local p.o loves me as they have admitted that me and a few other Ebayers are saving them from being closed down.
The main Post Office is also friendly. Word of warning though. They have a self-service machine which weighs and prints the postage labels for the parcels. As I had a long wait I used it while my OH queued up with the recorded ones. Anyway I did them all and then it says to post it in a special box and then take your receipt to the counter so they can give you proof of postage (which seemed a bit odd as whats the point of a self-service machine where you have to go the counter). Anyway so I went back in the queue and after doing my recorded I asked for proof of postage from the machine and they told me that I have to bring the parcels to the counter so they can stick the postage labels on and check the weight and then do proof of postage. I have never used the machines since although I use my local one as much as possible.
  • I live where I have about 5 or 6 post offices within a five minute drive.
The nearest is a two minute walk away but will only use this one if I really have to.The guy that works there has to be the most miserable person on earth and has a really rank attitude. He always makes some kind of comment about ebay, how the proofs of posting have printed off(if I do my own). The next closest is a two minute drive away, they have 4 people that work there and 3 of them are great and are always cheery but the 4th is a right miserable and ignorant b***h.No please, thanks, kiss my a*** or nothing she has a face like frozen p*ss ,I dread going in there when she is working .
All the others are fine and would rather drive a little bit further than go to the ones which are the closest to me

I have a great set of people at my post office, they are always friendly and are pleased that all the ebay business is keeping them open. The people who are in the queue are the annoying ones, I can hear them muttering about how long they have to wait and why can't someone like me come at a different time. They are the sort who probably use the post office once a year and expect regulars to let them in front. Why have we become a world of moaners??

Our local post office has a lovely lady behind the counter, and a grumpy man. He's really awful and talks to you like poo and makes every little thing awkward, but on other days he's sooo nice and can't do enough for you, making jokes, telling stories....I'd started to wonder about his state of mind as his moods were so opposite. It took me about 18 months (no joke) to realise they weren't the same man, but were identical twins :)
