Three of my local post offices have now closed, and I now have to drive a few miles to post items.

It's not the post office staff I have problems with, but the pensioners who are always in a hurry to be somewhere  One old dear complained every time I was in there (even though when possible, I let them go first), and one day when I was posting a parcel to France she muttered "I wish she'd go to France". I know I should'nt have done, but I turned round and told her that people like me were keeping her local post office open, and she should be pleased.

That post office was awarded commercial status because of the amount of Ebay parcels they were taking, but eventually closed as the property was sold :o

Our local post office has a lovely lady behind the counter, and a grumpy man. He's really awful and talks to you like poo and makes every little thing awkward, but on other days he's sooo nice and can't do enough for you, making jokes, telling stories....I'd started to wonder about his state of mind as his moods were so opposite. It took me about 18 months (no joke) to realise they weren't the same man, but were identical twins :)

With completely opposite temperaments? How bizarre. Have you ever asked, 'Are you the nice twin or the other one?' as you come up to the counter?

They're total opposites! I haven't asked that no, lol. If I got the nice twin, he'd laugh about it. But if I got the other...I think I'd feel his wrath! I've no way of telling them apart, they look so alike, and they don't wear any name tags or anything.

I have had the old woman tutting behind me as I have had a load of parcels to send. Now I don't live near my local post office I turn around and say "Well at least I am putting money into the post office not just taking it out".
The thing that gets me about these old ladies is that I go at 9am because of work but they have all day to get their money yet they start queing up at 8.30am outside the post office. Also they can't stand on a bus but happy to stand outside a post office for half hour just so they are first in and avoid a wait of maybe 5 minutes for the people who have been queing for half hour to be served.
  • Interesting to see how many people have bad experiences with the PO.

I tend to go to the one a little further away from where I work because the closest one is run by two old biddies. Nice enough but so SLOW that the queue is out of the door some days !!!!

I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

hi guys, not been contirbuting for a bit and was put off selling on ebay for a while.. but am back in the game and getting rid of clothes i never wore.. what a waste!! they even have tags on them from my over eagerness in next and m & s!!

well as a small update from my postal complaint, i got 24 1st class stamps, and was told that the post office has to provide the service i ask for etc etc... havent been back to her as i just cant be bothered but the local paper put it in and the coffee shop around the corner ( one of the business that said he had a lot of customers come in angry or upset too), well, he has been telling any one who comes in to complain too and directs them to the royal mail website even!!

my new found post office is sooo lovely, yes i have to pay bus fare to get there and i cant offer fast delivery to my buyers on ebay but i am happy to take my custom elsewhere,

i will one day go back to that horrid post office.. the day of course when i have accumulated around 20-30 parcels and at 4.30pm seems to be a good time for them:D:D:D.. waddya think? ;)

just wanted to add that please do not be put off complaining, we all have a right to a certain level of service and they have no right to be rude to us for no reason..if you have a problem, please complain that way we can fill our POs with nice friendly staff who deserve to be there..

I am glad you have found somewhere nicer;)
My local sub PO is so much better than the main branch
so much so he keeps offering me a job:o lol
I save PO stamps to buy car tax so have to buy it at the PO
but I travel an extra 5 miles to another main branch so not to go in the one less than a mile away as they have a stinking attitude to everyone!!

I have 2 in between work and home, the Main One near work is awful queue up for 40-50 minutes, complain, and get a "we'll look into it" response. Never improves, and I now avoid.

One nearest home is amazing, only 2 counters but they are quick, always get a proof of postage (don't have to ask any more, it's part of the routine for them) and recently was the only PO in the area to get 100% customer service feedback.

I'm glad i'm not alone! We have such miserable people in my local!

When I first started using them the man there made comments about Ebay like 'we don't do Ebay here', 'bloody Ebay' or moaning if I had more than 3 parcels (usually have no more than 4/5)

Got to the point of feeling uncomfortable and not looking forward to going to the post office.

After much persitance I think they have final given up being snotty as I always go back and they know they won't get rid of me! :rotfl:

The other week the woman in there was awful though I was about 3rd in the queue and she was having a joke with the guy she was serving, he was saying 'whats wrong, your not your usual happy self'.. she replied in an arsey tone 'Customers' and stared at the queue, woman in front of me shouted out something I can't repeat and stormed out!
