  • hey everyone....thanks for checking in. I know i have been quite of late. but im still chipping away at the debts.

TMD - i see you have joined the 100days challenge....me too! have a big target of £2032.pp so should be interesting! Going to make my first payments towards it in a bit.

sorry back later...dd is crying. x

Hi, I saw you were doing the 100 days challenge too, I owe £2,300 on my Lloyds card but just put myself down for £1,000.

Are you doing any other challenges?

Glad you are doing well? I've been doing lots of Ebay, have a few coats on at the moment that are up to £12, £12.50 and £16 so far so am pleased with that.

    Anyway, have a good afternoon.

  • Spykey - ooo saving for a wedding is tough isnt it. I am lucky at the mo as business is good so i know i can rely on a bit extra from that this month for the wedding fund. in one way i will be glad when everything is paid for so i can concentrate on debt.

TMD - not doing any other challenges at the mo, if this one works then i may look to joining in more with them. I do ebay every now and then but struggling with finding things at the moment to get rid of....OH wont be happy if i start selling the tv and sofa lol...so i must leave them where they are.

just made my payment for the challenge....£20.00 to the lloyds card....so thats £60.01 in 2 days for me. :-) good stuff. Im getting very excited about this challenge...it would be awesome to pay £2032.62 pence off in 100days as well as see the standard loan amounts come down. I was thinking earlier how close we are to 2010.....and in 2010 i will be even less in debt!! woohoo hoping my newyears eve we will have a debt total of about £33500. That would mean in 8 months we would have gotten rid of £7048.69 worth of debt, thats just under 17% of debts. Then 2010 is a new year...no wedding to plan so lots of excess money to get rid of debts!! Im on a mission!!!

:j Also just saved on home insurance.....renewal letter with barclays quoted £215.....so i log onto their website to get a quote and the cheeky !!!!!!s give me a qoute of £160!! that pee'd me off so i immediately rang and told them i would not be renewing with themselves. So instead i am renewing with lloyds tsb....have accepted a qoute of £190, but in 28days i will get £%0 cashback so its only costing £140 really! result.

Will put that £50 into the 100day challenge once it arrives! :T

I am one very hyper lady this afternoon!! DD due to wake soon so think i will take her to see her grampa to tire her out for bedtime later!!

    xx
  • You are doing well, I feel so much better now it is a new month and the kids will be back to school next week (well DD1 will be then 17th DD2 does 2 weeks of half days) then when she goes full time it will be great as I'll just have DD3 and can do more on Ebay. I just feel so positive right now.

I want to sell my car as it is so expensive with petrol, insurance, road tax etc, it would mean having to walk 20 mins or so to the school but at least I would get exercise then and would just need warm coats and boots for the kids in the winter but the money would be so much more useful. OH doesn't want me to and it has a dent in the front and the electric window on the front passenger side doesn't work and some !!!!!! stole the black bits that go over the locks. I don't like the idea of selling it on Ebay or privately I'd rather just go to a garage and ask if they buy cars for cash, even if I only got £2k for it it would be useful, wouldn't pay off anywhere near what I owe on credit cards but I'd save in the long run as I wouldn't have to buy petrol and would get some money back on my car insurance.

I am just desperate to be out of debt.

I definitely recommend the Sealed Pot Challenge, it runs from 1st December for a year, I cant wait for December to open mine and pay it all off a debt, will be interesting to see how much more I can save in it before then.

Hope you have a nice time at grandpa's!

  • Had a fab time at grandpa's. DD was warn out by the time we left. Just got back from eating out (courtesy of my friend). So full now!!

I would love to sell our car...but at the mo we wouldnt get near what we owe on it as the prices have fallen so much!! ah well....note to self...never get car on HP again!!

I do have a sealed pot....but havent joined the official challenge.....i cheat aswell as i keep a note of whats in there. It spurs me on to keep adding to it. Since the middle of June i have put £150 of 'loose change' in it!! not bad really.

  • Hello and well done on joining the 100 challenge - am sure you will do well. Just back £62 (my £2 coin savings) lighter from Brixham but hey! it was lovely down there and the money seemed to go a long way and meant very little spends on bank card.
London is next - got free tickets to see Julie and Julia tomorrow night at a London cinema so very pleased. Got half price meal vouchers to use too. Had to pay full price for London Dungeon though but booked jointly with the Eye so a bit of a saving there and we really want to do both so should be great fun.
  • angela - glad you had a great time...fingers crossed london is just as fab!

made my payments for today....£14.30 to lloyds, and £8.31 to virgin.

have paid £82.62 off my 100day challenge so far in just 3 days!! great stuff!! waiting for my £15 from greenmet to arrive in bank an then that can join it!!

best go get ready for the day ahead...although looks like more rain could be on its way from the skys above!!! grey grey grey!!

  • Glad you had a good time at Grandpa's. I need to find something to tire my 3 out, they are such a pain at the moment, the eldest two went to bed at 7.45 and were messing about until 9pm, was not best pleased and DD3 who hadn't slept since about 11am didn't fall asleep until 9.15.

Well done with today's payments. I haven't paid any today.

  • just a quick post for me this morning.

have updated my sig and posted onto the 100 day challenge.

£20.00 for me today to virgin so thats £117.92 of my challenge figure £2032.62 gone in 5 days!!

going to get some stuff fopr ebay this weekend...there must be things we dont use in this house!!!

just worked out that im only £514.55 away from paying off my first 10% of debt!!!! How cool is that!! :j im very very pleased with that achievement in just over 4months!! especially with having other money things like a wedding to pay towards...and i know if we tried harder we could cut out a few more takeaways if we really wanted to!

anyway i shall be back later on tonight..hopefully with lots of things posted on ebay!! we shall see.

  • Hi DBG

Well done on the payments, and good luck with the Ebay listings. I've done two items on Amazon today (first time I've used it), I have lots of comic books I want to list on their but not sure how (or if) I can create a new item as there isn't one there the same (all the comics have different numbers).

How do you work out how much of your debt you have paid off? I've seen some people with a bar across the bottom of the screen which says how much they have paid off but don't know how they do it. Would be interested in having one myself.

Hope your daughter is OK, does she have any clothes that don't fit that you could sell?

  • hey TMD. i have just been looking for tickers...found one but cant quite work out how to get it to show up in my sig....once i do i will let you know...but to work out how much i had paid i just divided my debt total now by what it was and times by 100 to get percentage of debt left.....so 38235.63 / £42048.69 x 100 = 90.93% left to pay.

not up to much really...OH and DD are asleep so im just going through gas bills....we are switching suppliers so im just recording the readings so they dont try and con us at all.

not got around to ebay yet but if i dont get stuff today will def in the morning.

i feel like i have my debt-busting mo-jo back!! :rotfl:cant wait to reach the 10% mark.

its so motivating just to think of the future and how much money we could have sitting in our bank!! i think i am getting wiser with age...alot of my side of the debt has been built up through immaturity and a mindset of "its only money". just want to wave goodbye to it all! :-)

anyway off to carry on with paperwork.
hope you have a good afternoon.
