Barclays £100 loophole payments starting to come through

What's it about?

This was a loophole I put in my weekly email a couple of months ago. In a nutshell you opened a Barclays account, paid some cash in, which you could then withdraw, for two months in a row and it'd pay £100 bonus.

Sadly newbie MoneySavers, this loophole was swiftly closed once it went in my weekly email - but many thousands got through in time.

So what's the news?

The first MoneySavers are reporting their payments coming through. Once done you can close the account. Those who haven't got the £100 don't worry, there's a couple of weeks left before thats something to worry about. I will follow through anyone who hasn't got it then.

Click reply to discuss receiving the £100.

    £100 received a week ago.

Though I wish to close the account due to being given a mickey mouse debit card (connect), I feel churlish doing so straight away.

I'll keep it a few months and then close it with the excuse (though I don't have to give one) that I don't use it as I thought I would be.

  • Recieved the £100 this week. Lovely.. Thanks for this!

Had the following hassles, which made it all the more sweet..

    - When I went into bank to give ID. Was then told I was not eligible as I had applied after the set date. This was incorrect and I complained in writing and they agreed I was in fact eligible.
    - I was sent a welcome pack for an "Additional Plus" account which includes things like travel insurance, car cover which I have already. Also this service is at a cost. Phoned to complain and they changed the account
    - Recieved a letter saying I had a £25 referall charge for going overdrawn.
Phoned again, mysteriously a savings account had also been opened on my behalf at the same time. A direct debit went out the current account into the savings account. As this made me overdrawn on the current account, got the charge. complained again and they closed the savings account and credited me back the £25
  • Logged onto Barclays over the weekend and confirm that the £100 has been paid to both me and my wife. :j

Like some other posters - my wife has had her fair share of problems with Barclays Customer Services

In common with many other people, despite applying for a standard Barclays current account, when the welcome letter for her account arrived she found that she had been signed up to a Barclays Additions account which attracted a charge of £5.00 per month.

We have had so many problems trying to get Barclays to transfer the account to a standard current account. Finally, after going through the Customer service dept, we recieved a letter regarding our complaint which stated that they would comply with our request and also refund the 2 x £5.00 charges for the Additions account. However, the following month they took another £5.00 for yes, you've guessed it - the Additions account

I have absolutely no problem with moving our money from Barclays to our normal bankers and closing the Barclays Accounts down.

In my opinion, this offer has completely blown up in Barclays face :rotfl: Not only has it exposed complete incompetence at Barclays with reference to putting the offer out with such a large loophole, it has also highlighted superior poor quality Customer Services. If the treatment my wife suffered as a new customer is anything to go by - I shudder to think just how badly they treat their loyal customers.

I will NEVER ever go anywhere near a Barclays product - unless, of course, they are so stupid enough to repeat any offer similar to the one I have just benefited from.

Well done Martin & thanks for bringing the offer to our attention

Still waiting. Although I am not out of my 28 days yet, but from what other people have been saying with them all receiving the cash early I may have to ring them.

I applied at 8:30am on the 19th January, so before the lunchtime withdrawl of the offer and I used the £100 link on the barclays webby when applying.

Paid the first £1000 on the 6th Feb, and the second on the 10th March. So will wait a bit before complaining. :)

Which number do I ring to complain btw?

    Cheers,

    Mike
  • £100 credited to account exactly 28 days later. Thanks Martin

The whole process was hassle-free for me. Didn't have to go into a branch to prove ID or anything, just had an agreement in the post that I had to sign and send back. Paid in 2 x £500 during February and March, and withdrew the money as soon as it appeared in the account. Received the £100 on 31st and promptly withdrew, leaving 1p in the account that must have been interest earned. I wonder how long it will take to become 2p? Probably forever with Barclays cr*p interest rate!

  • opened my account in Feb first payment made in march, second went in this month, my understanding is that I should recieve something twenty eight days from now is that correct?

My last £500 was credited to the account on the 16th March, and the £100 was credited on 30th, so perhaps it is the end of the month during which you meet the criteria?
