UK Mobile Phone Directory
From early next week all UK mobiles will be on a directory which will mean that anyone will be able to access the numbers.
It is easy to unsubscribe but it must be done as soon as possible. You could be swamped by unsolicited messages and calls.
The Directory of Mobile Phone numbers goes live next week. There are two ways to remove your number.
1. Text the letter ‘E’ to 118800 from the mobile phone you want to be made ex-directory. Standard network charges apply.
2. Go to the Homepage http://www.118800.co.uk/service-unavailable.html and the Ex-Directory link is along the top of the page.
You then need to enter your mobile phone number, they then text you a 5 digit code which you then have to enter into the website to complete the process.0 -
If there was only another 20 threads to warn us.
And it is wrong too, nobody will be able to access your number. Thats not how it works.
I'm guessing this is email spam?0 -
Seems funny that their site has been down for a few days "for essential mainenance".
Could they be getting the message??
I doubt it.

Still down today,so if it must be done by the 13th,it will probably be down till then!
I`ve decided to nothing,if some idiot wants to pay £1 to have their details texted to me,which I`ll just ignor, then let them.
As long as it`s not costing me owt,let them get on with it.
Mind you plenty of people are daft enough to fork out for normal directory inquiries!0 -
And an interesting story here showing how they like to go about their business:

And more:http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/06/19/118800_failure/
Connectivity purchased lists of 15 million people's mobile numbers from personal data brokers after its attempts to extract data from mobile operators failed.0
