I had a rather unhealthy ( in every sense) addiction to Diet Coke. Can for brekkie, cans at work, 2 litre bottle at home every night. Costing ( including the offers and the bogofs) over 4 quid most days. Totalled it up and for the year ( including days off not drinking it) I spent somehwere in the region of 750 quid a year. Needless to say, that was the first and only thing to "give up", everything else Ive reduced use of or got for cheaper/free.
I had one the other day for my "treat" and wound up with the worlds most killer headache, making me very sick indeed. Coincidence? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
The first thing has to be Choccie.
I was easily getting through 5 bars a day and i dread to think how much ive spent on my addiction over the years! But on the plus side i just keep thinking how much better im going to feel ( please let it be soon!! ) when i dont have to fight the cravings and how im going to fit back into all those clothes in my wardrobe that my pal ''choccie'' has made more than a little tight, so i wont have to go clothes shopping for ages ( another saving ). Ive even asked for vouchers from our local beauty salon instead of easter eggs so i can put them towards a treat for myself.
The second thing is shoes, but i think i have enough pairs to last me a lifetime or at least the lifetime of my CC debt. Still it is hard to walk past them in shops, i swear i can hear them calling me!!!0 -
The thing i miss most is Spending :rotfl:
I miss not being able to go out and when i see something buy it, but now, being honest with myself i couldn't afford to do that anyway, hence some of the debt  .
I was also a big gig lover but now that will have to be cut right back.
Also enjoyed travel not that i went away alot but my holiday once a year by myself or with a friend was something i really looked forward to, being a full time mum and also having a child with special needs and disabilities and the fact that my OH works nearly all the hours god sends means that i don't have any real time for myself and that once a year trip was needed to just keep me sane, giving it up means that i may go crazy but at least i will be out of debt that little bit sooner :rotfl:Success means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. Queen B, have you tried to get a holiday from your social services department ?If your little one has special needs, SS can and Do have links with charities, and others to give you the break you need. Have a websearch for Childrens Country holidays fund, they are only based in london ,but they may be able to tell you about other groups in your area, if your SS dept isnt providing, altohugh they *have to* by law ( depends how you word it!) |Pm me if you want more info:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Miss G & Lynzpower - DIET COKE - ahhh, I know totally what you mean, I've drunk a litre already today. Going to drink the last one tomorrow and then try to quit it. I find it scary that for me it seems more addictive than smoking! I rarely crave a fag now but diet coke is in my dreams. I wonder what's in that stuff, I find myself totally craving coke and then making myself sick by drinking so much, (plus getting fat with all the chocolate that goes with it!) :eek:0

ps. I would add that last week I spent £7 on the dreaded diet C & chocolate - that's almost half my food budget for the week! What a waste of money.0

Being able to go and visit friends in other parts of the country
Buying books, clothes, cds

The addiction is the caffeine just the same as tea or coffee. I never thought when I submitted my reply that so many people have been or are addicted to coke.
I always remember a man who seen me drinking coke say, "You shouldn't drink coke as it rots your insides" at the same time he lifted his t-shirt up and he had a massive scar from an operation he had to have through drinking JUST coke.
