What's the 'thing' you've found the hardest to give up/change?

Since I realised I needed to change my financial outlook completely, I/we have made a lot of changes. From small things, like saving change and taking lunch into work every day to bigger things like limiting the times we go out and me not having any beauty treatments
.
There have been many other changes and some hurt more than others but I am determined to become debt free so I keep my mind focused on that as much as I can - we all have the odd bad day after all
There is one thing though that really physically pains me to do - ironing! I loathe it with passion and as long as I can remember, I have paid an ironing company to do it. It cost us on average £25 per month but I am no longer comfortable paying that for something we can do ourselves. I have to say though, it's SO HARD but I am not giving in! (yet :rotfl: )
What have you found really HARD to give up/change since you had your lightbulb moment?

Nothing. I was sooooo scared of what was happening, I would have given up eating and sold my body if it would have helped (it wouldn't if you could see my body.)0

Hiya,
The hardest thing for me to give up was the take away's.
I live alone and I'm quite a comfort eater. Having suffered with depression too - that's not helped matters.
I'm getting better now, I may allow myself one or two a month, but there are times I slip up and have more.
My finances and my weight is what is making me try to give it up.
Have found that difficult though.

The hardest thing for me would be not booking tickets to good gigs.
I really love to hear music live and used to go every few months. Now I try not to look at whos playing where (although I'll still be at Glastonbury next year)
The other thing I guess would be planning for holidays as I love to travel. Keeps me going to think that when this 'debt phase' is over, I'll be able to save up and travel much more.
Everything thing else was much easier, just took a change in attitude from 'can afford it to can't' :A0 -
Buying clothes!!
No holiday (why does everyone ask "where you going for your holiday this year")
Saying No to the children, this is the hardest.0 -

i hated giving up buying things for my dd, i felt she missed out not having what all her mates have, but actually in the long run we're much better off for it. we spend more time together, we have just as much fun. material things really don't matter that much.
moozie, as for the ironing, i hate it too, with avengance, but i wait til there is something good on tv, set the ironging board up in front of it, and can get most of ine done in front of poirot, or something similar, and it takes my mind off it too. thought it might be worth a try for you too.£2 saver club 30th sept 198 £2 coins = £396(£350 banked)0 -
I'm selling my car on Wednesday which is going to be really hard. I love my little Punto and I'm really going to miss it. First car I ever owned too. But it's just too expensive - petrol, tax, MOT, servicing etc etc. And I don't really need it in London. But I will miss it.Total debt May 2005 £83,232

Yup, I'm another gig goer and although I haven't gone to so many since I've lived outside of London, I still like to go to three or four a year... At the height of our recklessless I would think nothing of spending £400 on a pair of front row tickets on eBay with the reasoning being that if I was going to go, I might as well get decent seats!
Not any more!
Tickets for one of my most favourite artists ever's first UK date for 12 years went on sale this morning, and at £75 a ticket I had to sit with a lump in my throat as I watched the tickets sell out... I even considered buying extras just to sell on eBay to fund my night out but there was no way I could find £300 from somewhere without using the dreaded plastic!
So that's a harsh lesson to learn from all this debt business, missing what may well be my one and only opportunity to see one of my heroes play live.
Wow, a thought... that night out would have cost us £150 for the tickets alone plus probably £10 of booking fees, £30 of petrol and £10 parking, that's £200 for a night out without even buying any t-shirts, programmes or drinks.
Ouch!
JamesTotal Debt: Owe about £19,000 on credit cards plus £24,000 which is my half of joint loans.0 -
the one thing Im finding the hardest to give up.. its the fags! So i HAVENT!! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0
