Bearing in mind the clouds are black and it is chucking down with rain, sitting here alone in living room and catch a glimpse in my glass door of a pink jumper in the garden next door, think nothing of it, the toothless woman walks up and down for a bit then leans full over my brick wall, her head and arms full in,looks around at all the flowers..... and then I stand up, she sees me and walks back in
two more roses from the front garden have been picked thanks to the lovely kids, friday we reckon we will get the fence panels but won't be able to put them up for a while as OH is busy work wise:rolleyes:

well done bindiboo a great loss

I have been getting quite down feeling that the weightloss isn't really happening but when I have looked back on my RC class weigh in card, I weighed 14st 6lb on the 11th Aug last year (5 days after having my little boy) and I now weigh 12st 7lb nearly 2st!! I knew that I had done well really but it was just lovely to look back and know that I may have bad/off days but overall its coming off all be it not as quickly as I would like lol it didn't go on overnight I know so it will take time to get it all off.

    Hello all,

have been both busy, and feeling a bit under the weather since the w/end. Not expecting great results from my weigh in tomorrow, but hoping for a STS. Diet has been too up and down, and I am very bloated with TOTM. In a week I'll feel much better, so it's just a natural blip, which I'm not worried about.

    Great loss bindi, well done.

Kenny, keep at it, and you will find the balance. Regular meals is probably the most manageable way of getting the nutrition your body needs. I've had a look on the foodfocus site to see what some exercises equate to in calories burned: running at 10.9mph (5.5 min mile) burns 877 cals in 40 mins - that's fast running, running at 6mph (10 min mile) burns 466 cals in 40 mins.
vigorous weightlifting/body building burns 259 cals in 40 mins,
high impact aerobics burns 322 cals in 40 mins.

Just to give you an idea of the various rates. I don't know what other's think, but I've always considered the foodfocus burn rates to be quite generous. Remember everyone's body is different. Missy's advice to try something for several weeks to see how it works is good, as always.

Vix - I applied for an admin job last week at my sons' school, but my eldest told me yesterday that I'm not on the short-list of applicants, because he'd seen it, and that the 6th form students are involved in the 1st round of interviews! Can you imagine being interviewed by a panel of spotty, snotty nosed, know-it-all 17 yr olds? I live with a couple, and they're a special breed. So glad I've been spared that, as I'd find the whole process both humiliating and disrespectful. It begs the question: 'what is the world coming to?' My BF is probably right when he says that it isn't all about 'the children', and that grown ups have lost sight of where priorities should really be, and empowering the wrong people in the world.

Anyhoo, off topic, but I thought I'd share it with you all.

Remember muscle weighs more than fat does. I always think people are shocked at how much i weigh because I'm a postie, so my legs are in rather good shape, but when u see the top half, all boobs n belly, u realise where I hold all the blubber. If we could cut it off some places and stick it on others, we would all be happy i guess.

I too haven't lost much weight in the last month or two, seems to have plateaued a wee bit, I think the most important thing is to stick at it. Maybe get missy to take a look at your food diary, she could perhaps spot things to give u a boost. maybe less carbs and more protein or vice versa, she seems to know what she's talking about anyhoo

thanks for posting your meals missy.

Sary - completely agree with you : it would be unacceptable to me to be interviewed by 17 yr olds for such a post. It's in admin for goodness sake!!Only acceptable if they personally were paying my wage. As it is , my taxes are helping them to do 'meedya studies'.
It always winds me up when there is talk of dropping the voting age limit to 16:eek:. Hahaha, how old and grumpy do I sound... In MY day blah blah blah:o

Back on topic: bit of a carb fest today.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Sary, hard to say if those calorie rates are generous, as you rightly point out we're all different. I've never been happy taking calorie burn numbers off a website. With a bit of trial and error if you track your body fat results alongside intake & exercise, it's not too difficult to work out whether you're under or overestimating calorie burn :) Then you can adjust the burn numbers accordingly :)

JMW77 - If you're doing a similar workout each time, then you won't continue gaining muscle indefinitely, at some point you'll begin to maintain what you've got. With walking you should see improved muscle tone initially (especially in the hips, thighs, calves & bum). This is great news for your future weight loss because muscle is not only denser than fat (making you smaller), it 'uses up' more calories every day just by being there! :D
